The Rams have traded Brandon Lloyd from the Broncos for a fifth-round pick. St. Louis was one of the three teams Jay Glazer reported was interested in acquiring him.

As Tuesday's trade deadline looms, the Patriots have surprisingly been linked to several rumors league-wide. Typically, the NFL trade deadline comes and goes without much news, however, the Denver Broncos have reportedly placed wide receiver Brandon Lloyd on the trading block.

Early Sunday afternoon, Fox Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer reported New England was one of three teams in the running to acquire Lloyd.

Lloyd, who had a breakout season under Josh McDaniels in 2010, would certainly be a solid addition to an already potent Patriots offense. Last season, he finished with 77 receptions, 1,448 yards and 11 touchdowns. Through six weeks this year, however, he has struggled with just 19 receptions, 283 yards and no touchdowns. The Broncos quarterback turmoil could be a contributing factor to his dip in production.

Denver has reportedly asked for a third to fifth round draft pick in return for Lloyd, so the asking price seems to be of adequate value.

I believe this potential deal speaks more to how Bill Belichick and the coaching staff views Chad Ochocinco and Taylor Price's production thus far this season. Ochocinco specifically, has totaled only nice catches for 136 yards this season and only played in seven plays in Sunday's victory over the Cowboys. Price has been invisible the last two weeks, despite being active for both games.

The Patriots have had no problem moving the ball this year and have been a top offense through six weeks. Not to mention, Tom Brady has a multitude of weapons like receivers Wes Welker and Deion Branch, as well as tight ends Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski.

So the question remains, should the Patriots deal for Brandon Lloyd?

Personally, I would look to add the Denver receiver to the mix if the right deal could be worked out. With Belichick's success in adding mid round picks in the draft, considering Denver's asking price, it seems like a good trade for New England. There is some hesitation in adding a receiver mid-season, but with the team heading into a bye week, it figures to be a good time to make a move.

Overall, when you can add a player of Lloyd's caliber to your team, I believe you take that opportunity. What are your thoughts? Should the Patriots deal for Lloyd? What would you give up for the receiver? Share your thoughts below!
