Will Tom change his ways at QB of spreading the ball around to 5-7 guys a game and mainly use a new go-to guy whether its Moss or Stallworth if one of them gets consistently in good position to make a difficult catch?

Will he limit the spreading around of passes the other guys way and most to just one main man,one of whom who may very well come out of this new group?.

Personally I don't think things will change and usually its always to the open guy but if Tom ever looks mainly to one guy,It will be this year,I still don't see it since we payed all these guys decent money to do the job,all of these guys have previous talent shown to get open consistently.

He will continue to pass the ball to the open receiver, it's just that R Moss will actually be open almost on every passing play.

    #54 Jersey

Yep. I don't think he spreads it around just for the sake of spreading it around. He gets it to the guy who is open. If that happens to be Moss half the time, then I'm sure Moss will be catching a lot of balls this year. If it's another guy, then that guy will see balls thrown his way.

Branch did catch 78 passes for 998 yards in 2005, so obviously there's room for a go-to #1 WR in the Pats' offense.

I don't think there will be a concerted effort to get the #1 receiver the ball any moreso than in the past. Where us fans will see the difference is when there is no one open; Tom will now have the luxury/security blanket that is Randy Moss 35+ yards down field. Just throw it up there and run up the field for the next play.

Well, let's look at the receivers that Brady has at his arsenal. Moss and Stallworth as deep threats and Welker/Watson working the middle of the field. Finally, Brady has Washington, Caldwell, Gaffney, Jackson (if available) and Troy Brown (if he wants to return) as reserves. In fact, don't forget about the emerging David Thomas. How could you not spread the ball around? However, I think Moss and Stallworth will be the featured recievers. All I can say is, defenses will have a hard time guarding the Pats receivers. If they try to take out one, the others will be wide open. Brady will spread the ball around, the only diffence is, each reception has the chance of becoming a huge play. With so many threats on the outside, Maroney, if healthy, will have a huge season running the football. Before the Brach debacle, I thought the Pats would have a chance to be a top 5 offense in 2006-07. Now, the Pats have a chance to be the best offense in the NFL for 2007-08. I wish September were already here!

no but I think Moss and stallworth will easily get the most yards by virtue of the fact that they'll be running longer routes than everyone else

The Pats have previously done a lot with little talent, now they have an abundance in this area. Will he spread it around, no one really knows at this time.. the game planning will be different. With Moss, Stallworth, Welker and Watson as possible targets our running game will be different as will our passing game. Predicting what these guys will do on any Sunday will be a crapshoot, as it has been in the past. D Coordinators will be having big time poop fits to try to plan for this team. The biggest beneficiaries will be Maroney and Watson, as the d's now have to play our receivers much different as they have in the past. I think he will spread the ball around, but at the end of the season Moss, Welker and Watson will be our top three receivers and their reception totals will be close.. Moss will get the most yards.

I think they'll spread the ball through their receivers and Watson. I doubt very much you'll see 9 different players with a completion in a game like in the past though. Also I disagree that Stallworth won't be a leading receiver for the Pats. Stallworth and Moss should force teams to overcommit to each other leaving the counterpart in man-to-man coverage. As long as Moss doesn't give up... and sells his route on design plays to Stallworth..this duo should cause some headaches for defenses.

I don't think Brady has many plays that are actually designed to land in the hands of Heath Evans and various other low imapct players - its simply that Brady is the best in the league at checking down through his options.

I believe the reason that Brady has to hit the 2nd/3rd/4th guy on such a regular basis is that our WR corps has not been sufficiently consistent at creating seperation.

Brady, like most QB's, operates best when he 'knows' that his WR is on a similar wavelength (see Brown, Troy and Branch, Deion) Peyton Manning has that comfort with both his top two WR's.

If Moss or Stallwoth find themselves open on a regular basis - thats where the balls will be thrown.

I can definitely see Moss having 8-10 catches one week, then Stallworth having 8-10 the next because the defense overcommits to Moss. They flip back and forth all season.

If they are both double covered all game just hand it off to Maroney who then gets like 200 yards running up the middle with no safeties anywhere CLOSE to the box.

theres no need to go to one guy..I dont think you can double cover 1 and not the other because speed. Someone will be open and thats where were gonna go. If Moss is the first target and hes always open or 1 on 1 with advantage..im sure we'll see a slight lean to the #1 but i see Brady still spreading it around..we have too many good players to go to 1 guy: Stall-Moss-Watson are all hungry
