Re: Welker did not tear MCL

There are three certainty in life....

(1) death
(2) taxes
(3) any information regarding NEP injuries and the extent of them is either misleading or outright false.

(4) Mayor Menino will not become a member of Mensa.

Re: Welker needed surgery on only one ligament

Great news! Wes will be back much sooner than anticipated and his knee is in much better shape pre and post-surgery with only 1 ligament needing repair.

Re: Welker did not tear MCL

To the medical experts (used loosely), does this mean we could see Welker sooner than the original notion of week 10 or so?

Re: Welker needed surgery on only one ligament

Typically for a partial tear of the MCL, there is no need for surgery. Not much of a shocker there. MCLs can heal on their own. ACLs cannot.

Re: Welker did not tear MCL

I don't think this makes a difference one way or the other. His prognosis doesn't change, aside from the fact that the surgery was delayed, and his return is still bound by the ACL recovery.

Re: Welker did not tear MCL

Welker chose not to have surgery on his MCL but instead let it heal by itself which is why he waited on ACL surgery. This is generally the case for most people depending on the severity of the MCL sprain of course. To say he didn't sprain his MCL is completely false this thread title needs to be changed to Welker did not need surgery on MCL.
