Old friend Jacoby Brissett is having an interesting time in Indy this year. The Colts have faced one of the tougher overall schedules so far going into week 3 -- no dominant opponents but 3 teams in the Chargers, Titans and Falcons that are usually competing for a playoff spot. He's got them 1-1 after a tough road trip and has made himself look pretty good doing it too. At 1-1 with 0 home games played, the Colts are nominally in charge of their division at the moment.
If the Colts beat the Falcons they then get a cream puff schedule for a good 4-5 weeks, broken up only by 1 game against the Chiefs that they'll have a couple softies to set themselves up for.
Frank Reich seems to be trying to set the team up like the early Patriots dynasties, with a lot of focus on fundamentals, clock management and the run game and less of a focus on quarterback play. So far it seems to be working for them. Reich has impressed me with his ability to adapt the team to the sudden paradigm shift. He's a darn good head coach.
Rumors of the demise of Indianapolis as a franchise might wind up being greatly exaggerated. Ballard has done a great job retooling the team around what Brissett can do. They're on the cusp of having a really good chance at locking down the division if they play well. I wouldn't mind a chance to meet them in the second round if they get that far it would be fun.
