WEEI.com: Pats will work out Michigan State QB

On a more positive note, Michigan State's Brian Hoyer could be this year's diamond in the rough. Hoyer was plagued by poor pass protection and a gross number of drops during his senior season, and his mobility and arm strength are vastly underrated. He is a very accurate passer with a quick release, and he has all the intangibles necessary to develop into a late-round steal.

I guess so!!!

Don't be too hard on yourself yet. The pressure of playing in the 4th pre-season game - even if a place on the 53 might be at stake - does not compare favorably to playing in a regular-season game, when 1st-string defenders are chasing you, with very bad intentions. And as State has noted, grace under pressure does not seem to be Hoyer's strong suit.

He still appeared to run our system effectively against (at least) college level players, without a great running game. That's good enough for any first year QB. If he actually progresses between years 1 and 2 (unlike O'Connell) he should be a match for 1st-string NFL defenses.

Seems like a pretty good pick up so far. Must have done something right to survive the cuts and be 1 of 2 QB's left on the roster.

It would be very interesting to see if the Pats bring in Feely or Huard. If they don't it says a lot of Hoyer and the confidence the Pats have for him. Not to say they don't now, because at worst he will be 3rd which is still pretty darn good for a undrafted rookie.

Good arm, great leader in the huddle. He's as good as anybody else for a camp arm, although I'd probably prefer Teel or Carpenter.

Teel did look really good for the Seahawks this past summer.
