Washington Post calls out Goodell for lies

Remember when the Washington Post reported this:

“I think other owners are concerned about what this means to the commissioner’s credibility,” the high-ranking team official said. “Do they care if it’s four games or two games or one game? I’m not sure they do. But they would like to see the commissioner emerge from it credible and looking like he’s dealing from a position of strength. I’m sure there are some [owners] who are anti-Patriots and jealous of their success. And then there are those who have to play them in the first four games.”

Is there anyway Goodell can reach that now?

I have to think that Sally Jenkins is taking her time and doing her due diligence - as she's usually not one to try to rush to be the first story - just the best

I have to think she's going to eviscerate Goodell* over this

Honestly, while I love the headline, this strikes me as one of the least compelling arguments that shows that Goodell was framing and slandering an innocent man

Though I guess the point is that Goodell and Wells are deliberately trying to confuse and make it seem like an inordinate amount of discussions are taking place

It really is laughable that Goodell would use the fact that Brady did what any innocent man would - call the equipment manager after getting off the phone with WEEI when he learned of an allegation - as proof of his guilt

I imagine if Brady DIDN'T call Jastrzemski after getting off the phone with WEEI it would be seen as proof of his guilt by deliberately avoiding making a call that would cause people to question him.

This would be particularly egregious since Jastrzemski would need as much time as possible in getting the balls prepped for his 1st Superbowl, which would make Brady's actions even more egregious and selfish.

Seen the movie many times and that half assed apology sticks with me every time I rewatch it. "It's like sorry, half your gang is dead. It wasn't you guys after all. Have a nice day."

Good reference though.

This putrid excuse for a business (NFL) wouldnt even give a half assed apology. I would not be shocked if someone at the NFL went rouge and ratted out the NFL for this obvious sting operation gone bad. Especially now with the media killing the NFL.

The NFL is playing no limit Texas Hold'm and has gone all in with an unsuited 2 7. Whatever.. this whole thing is a joke.

Stay tuned boppers...

I know this is not what anyone wants to hear, but it is our experience.

When the real transcripts started to come out, it was shown many times that the evidence did not fit the crime. Witnesses that were cut from the Saints for misconduct or poor performance were given positions in the NFL after making statements that started the investigation. The entire thing was a sham, like this is a total sham.

I would love to see the NFLPA do an investigation of RG, how he handled each investigation starting with spygate, and who he payed off. Ask for his cell phone, but that wont happen. Though I can bet you a million easy he would be fired, if not also face legal charges for fraud and coercion.

The guy is a corporate scum bag who knows nothing about football. He just wants to be noticed, like a little insecure boy.

Much like the ones at Ford, AOL, Blackberry, etc that eventually destroyed their own companies because they really believe they are the talent, and make ludicrous board room decisions.

judge berg called the hearing a sham and said Goodell failed to present the evidence on which he based his decision to impose Vilma's penalty.

Washington post, bleachers, NY post , etc , etc etc.. changed their story in the last minute to sell more papers and get more hits..They do that when being on one side gets old and they want more readers. One day your scum, the next “ They were wronged!”, um on page 46D… and in the end it did nothing.

RG doesn't care about the players, he doesn't care about the product, he doesn't care about the newspapers, he doesn't care about the signs, he doesn't care about football, and he doesn't give a rats butt about the fans

He cares about his own narcissistic need to feel important and to put himself above anyone else, the money, sucking up to his bosses, and making up things to seem important. As if he ever had a good idea in his life.

Ive worked for alot of these “Board room God-idiots” at a very high level, and the truth is the NFLPA, owners, or the courts have to tell RG that Brady can play or he wont, because he will not back down. Sorry, just what Ive seen. His ego is to fragile to admit mistakes.

The NFL should apologize to the Patriots and Brady

The NFL administration is an embarrassment. profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/08/05/tra…

I wonder if the NFL had not rushed to file in NY and this had been filed in MN ,these docs wouldve gone public. Credit the league - they did something right for the other guys.

Public urination boy with the lesson on "respect"

Albert Breer ✔ @AlbertBreer
It's strange when grown men commonly refer to other grown men as "Mr. (last name)" ... Unless it's your parents' friends or something.

No, I think it's usually ass-kissing. Respect is how you treat someone, not how you address them. https://twitter.com/bigyettisd/status/629049488464867329…

I use "Sir", "Ma'am", and "Mr./Mrs." all the time, when I'm addressing people I don't know well enough to get personal with, "Bert". Come at me, bro.

I know there were fans of every team in teh peanut gallery when the pats got lynched in 2007, so I was pretty happy to watch goodell stick the shiv in the saints, and although I really didn't pay much attention to that soap opera, I didn't have much sympathy when it came to guys trying to cripple players.

now I know I was suckered just like a lot of people on the sidelines of this thing.

just like steph stradley says, he counts on the fact that 31 other teams couldn't care less about the one team being pilloried........until they come for you and there's nobody left to speak up.........

That strategy worked for Hitler and his followers until it all came crashing down. Maybe history will repeat itself.

"First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me."
