    So...

    plugging in the translator...

After somebody catches the ball, and then after he and others roll around on the ground for a while, this is the right time to begin to take a very close look.

If two people in fact have their hand or hands on the ball at that point in time, that means it's "simultaneous"

    LOL

    no balls

"we support the decision not to overturn"

they completely ignored: " It is not a simultaneous catch if a player gains control first and an opponent subsequently gains joint control. "

and the fact that even if it WAS, which i would argue it wasn't, simultaneous, Tate LOST control by removing both hands from the ball as they fell.....

**** goodell and the owners.......the real officials are a necessary part of the game, a whole lot better than the crap they trot out there now, and they don't want to pay their pension plan that costs $3.3 million/year....or exactly .11% of their new TV contract, or roughly $100,000 PER TEAM per year

    Wow, they simultaneously

    A) admitted that the refs screwed up and changed the outcome
    B) sidestepped the most egregious mistake that the refs made

The fact that that's even possible is pretty amazing.

Also, how much sense does it make that possession is reviewable in the endzone but not in the field of play? The replays and challenges are more confusing than the English language.

When I read that, it says to me they know there was a penalty and the call was wrong, but we're going to use the "indisputable evidence" card to defend the officials.

Be damn sure if the call was correct on the field they'd be citing the rule, and tell you Jennings had control of the ball first, making it an interception. The rules are not very well written and it leaves a lot of interpretation and judgment, what if one of the simultaneous catch players lands out of bounds?

I don't know if anyone here has ever played magic (the card game) the ruleset is very verbose, and thus complicated, but if understood is very clear on how to handle all situations. There's different tiers of judges, and they do it for pennies, mostly self-gratification. There are intellectuals out there who could referee these games properly and author a proper rulebook if given opportunity.

As long there is subjectivity and ambiguity in the rulebook, you will have the NFL cop-outs like this run rampant.

How the hell does the NFL just continue to pile insult on insult on us the fans. This is absolutely ridiculous. Its enough to them that they get to sell us this huge pile of shlt but do they have to insist its a rose?:mad::mad::scream:

I mean Mom always said "I am not happy that you threw your brother down the laundry shoot and he got stuck but what really upsets me is that you wont own up to it."

The fans can theoretically get this to end. Maybe we are the only ones, since the players are constrained by the CBA.

We are addicted to the product though.

We are on crack and must turn away from the crack, until they start making better crack again.

    Can we do that?

I'm nearing the point where I think I can. I didn't tune in until the 4th Q last night, for example.

The NFL is a joke of a league based on the support of this call.

How long I wonder would it honestly take to get an impact in TV ratings to have an actual impact to the league and teams revenues? I wonder how much flexibility or leverage the networks actually have in the short term to adjust the payments to the league? It's not like it is believable that any of them would actually think of dropping coverage of NFL games.

A reduction in ticket and merchandise purchases would hurt pretty quickly but I don't see people giving up on the league that easily. By the time it would make a difference I would think this issue will be solved. Either by reaching an agreement or just firing the current ones and poaching from Division 1 who might be more likely to if they know it will be a long term gig.

Fans should quit Thursday night football on NFL network, it wont matter this week though as Browns are playing and their own fan base wont be watching the one sided game along with the rest of the nation

“When the players hit the ground in the end zone, the officials determined that both Tate and Jennings had possession of the ball. Under the rule for simultaneous catch, the ball belongs to Tate, the offensive player. The result of the play was a touchdown.

Yeah the issue is of course that Jennings had possession of the ball not Tate. I guess at this point if your QB throws an INT all you have to do is try and get one hand on the ball after the fact and it is considered a simultaneous catch.

Cannot believe the NFL actually agreed with the call. Never thought for a second they would overturn the call and give the Packers the game but I guess I am an idiot because I thought the NFL would step up and admit it was fatal mistake.

So really, what they've said is that it never should've been ruled a TD. There isn't obvious enough evidence to overturn - doesn't mean the right call was made.

It looks to me like Tate's arm was pinned in the defender's grip around the ball, but we can't really see from any angle. I can see making a case for not enough evidence to overturn.
