We've all been thinking it.... What would happen to a team (that passes most of the time ) when it encounters really bad weather. I must say I am glad they answered this question today and not in the playoffs. They aprtly answered it in the Raven game.
I have to give props to the entire team and you can compliment a ton of players.
1. Maroney has proven when he carries he is continually getting positive yardage 3, 4, 5 yards a carry. This is extremely impressive because he has yet to have a huge run which can distort and increase that yard per carry average. You have to feel more comfortable with him going against a Colt team or any team knowing you have him.
2. Eugene Wilson....somehow because if his lack of playing time people have concluded that he is on the doghouse. Is there anything to prove this? People hahve banked on him leaving. He proved invaluable today and will be valuable in the playoffs. He knows the scheme and has been on the big stage.
3. The D-line and LB's. They showed up.... Wilfork, Seymour, Warren, Jarvis and pressured and stopped the run. We knew the Jets were gonna run and you have to feel better about the run defense. Gave up only 3 points
4. And finally keep in mind the other team had to play in these conditions. balls were sailing.... when Peyton comes in he has to play in these same conditions. And don't worry about the pass defense....it was two deep safeties meant not to give up the deep pass and keep everything in front of them. That's why Chad was able to dink and dunk.
This game was a good primer for "what if there is another bad weather snow storm game".
Great game for the team.
