I'd be surprised if retirement happens. He didn't sound like someone who was giving it real serious consideration.

He'd actually be helping the Pats if he retires.

Is this news supposed to scare us?

Springs is a long gone talent who left the peak of his career far back.

Time to get even more younger and faster - Without Wilhite unless he does something special in TC

Wilhite will be on this team in 2010 regardless of what he does in TC.

    #12 Jersey

That's not good. When healthy, Springs is solid.

If the Patriots improve the pass rush (aka generate any pass rush), then all of the CBs will look better even Willhite.

    Signing off Deputy Duhhhhh :p

130 Tackles and 15 INTs and 2 TDs in the last 3 seasons and you say he sucks?

If he sucks then our guys currently at CB should not even be in the league.

He should have to give back part of his signing bonus if he retires. He promised us 3 years, and gave only one.

Watch me get railed on for this post. Why do so many posters get off insulting people on these message boards and putting people down? Is this how they stoke their egos?

I said Kaczur could play guard next year and one guy got apoplectic. "Have you EVER EVEN PLAYED FOOTBALL?". Well, yes I have, but is that a requirement to post here?

    Disable Jersey

YouTube - Antonio Cromartie WTF are you doing?

I'm not sure this is the sort of thing Belichick finds acceptable.

I wouldn't give more than a bucket of beatup range balls for those 2, and that would only be so I could use them up in preseason as gunners for stealing the $ they have so far.
After PS I would make one a towel boy, and the other the official toilet washer.

Wilhite are inexpensive dime backs who MAY be able to play nickel or start if needed. Neither was great in their first two years, but then, neither was Samuel. We have a 53 man roster and expect to carry 4-6 corners. The hope is that one of these two will step up to be one of our top two corners, but that is NOT necessary in their roles of #4 and #5 corner. Arrington is #6 at the moment, and will likely make the team as a special teamer.

It certainly seems reasonable to me to count on Wilhite OR Springs OR Wheatley to be our nickel back and one of the other two to be our dime back (although the dome back can be one of our four safeties).

The REAL QUESTION is who are our top two corners, the ones that we will count on. One will be Butler and one will be Bodden or his replacement.

    BOTTOM LINE
Are we really in terrible shape with Wilhite, Springs and Wheatley competing for time as our nickel? '
Are we really in terrible shape with Bodden and Butler as our starters?
