Indy's the better team.
Was just thinking about how both teams are out of the play-offs right now. I think both should win their divisions and make the play-offs, but the loser of today's game has a tough climb. The Chargers are already a game behind and need it more.
Odd potential scenario. If we beat the Jets next week, and the top 4 teams in the AFC right now make the playoffs (Jets/Pats/Steelers/Ravens), and the Chargers and Colts somehow win their divisions, that'd mean the Patriots would have already beaten every other AFC play-off team during the regular season. A lot of IFs in that scenario, but not entirely impossible either.
The Chargers could be very dangerous come playoff time. So I'm a bit torn on this one. I guess I'll be hoping for a tie?
If SD loses, that gives them 6 losses. They will have to win their last 5 to get to 10 wins. They should. But, there is no margin for error. And, they are an error prone team. KC has 6 wins now. Home games against; Denver, Tennessee and Oakland. That could get them to 9. Give them a loss at SD. But, they have a game at Seattle this week and travel cross-state to St. Louis. If they win one of those "winnable" road games. That puts them at 10-6.
Indy is likewise in a precarious position. If they lose, it's their 5th loss. They better go 11-5. Because have already lose 2 div. games. If Tennessee can split with them. I doubt it. But, play along at home. That would give them 6 losses. I think Jax might be able to get to 10 wins too. And, they can win the tie-breaker because of better div. record and split head to head. Jax is at NYG(REALLY BEAT UP), at Tennessee(Not sure K. Collins back by then), Oakland(W), AT Indy (L), Washington (will prob be out of it by this time), and finish at Houston(wrapping up a disappointing season). Not sure how they are doing it. But, 10 wins is within their grasp.
KC and Jax can push both of these teams to the wire and maybe knock them out of the playoffs. Especially, the loser of this week's game.
I have rooted for the Chargers to beat Peyton Manning every single time they've played, this time is no different.
If the Chargers win they're both guaranteed not to be in sole position of 1st place next week, even if the Jaguars and Chiefs lose.
This is what I'm thinking as well. Chargers win puts Indy further back in the division. I think it would be great if Indy missed the playoffs.
Who do I think will win?
I would say the Chargers, even though the game is in Indy.
Who do I want to win?
I really don't know. If, god forbid, the Pats don't win the division and are instead a wildcard team, I would not look forward to them having to go on the road and play either one of these teams.
To me best case scenario is for KC to win the AFCW, and Jacksonville (or Tennessee or Houston) to win the AFCS if the Pats end up as a wildcard. On the other hand if the Pats get a bye I wouldn't mind the Jets and either Pittsburgh or Baltimore having to play San Diego and Indy in the first round.
I'm just going to sit back and enjoy the game, it should be a good one.
It's true that the Pats have come out on top in SD, but for the most part they have been close games. The Pats were helped out quite a bit by Charger mistakes this year. It's tough for any team to cross three time zones and win on the road against a good team.if i was a pats fan i'd want to face sd , in sd or in NE
you guys have owned sd in the playoffs
indy on the other hand, not so much ownership of late but i do believe you've yet to lose to indy at home in the playoffs, so for the pats, i'd say the only danger historically , is facing indy in indy.
