Who do you think will win and who are you rooting for?

Obviously we could end up seeing either of these teams again in the playoffs. I think I'd rather face the Colts again given the choice since I think they are less likely to perform well in January in Foxboro, I'm an optimist and we'll win the division. So I should root for them but just cannot. Now that SD doesn't have LT a lot of my venom for them is gone.

No question who i'm rooting for. I chose Chargers in all of my weekly football pools. Even though Indy is at home, Chargers have Indy's number and Rivers has been great.

I'd love to see Indy miss the playoffs, which is very likely if they don't win their division.

Indy's the better team.

Was just thinking about how both teams are out of the play-offs right now. I think both should win their divisions and make the play-offs, but the loser of today's game has a tough climb. The Chargers are already a game behind and need it more.

Odd potential scenario. If we beat the Jets next week, and the top 4 teams in the AFC right now make the playoffs (Jets/Pats/Steelers/Ravens), and the Chargers and Colts somehow win their divisions, that'd mean the Patriots would have already beaten every other AFC play-off team during the regular season. A lot of IFs in that scenario, but not entirely impossible either.

SD cos rivers is my fantasy qb. hehe. gimme 4 tds baby

I want the Colts to lose and miss the playoffs, but I also don't want to face SD in the playoffs. If someone else can knock them out first round, that'd be perfect :D

go SD...gosh i hate the sound of that :bricks:

If SD loses, that gives them 6 losses. They will have to win their last 5 to get to 10 wins. They should. But, there is no margin for error. And, they are an error prone team. KC has 6 wins now. Home games against; Denver, Tennessee and Oakland. That could get them to 9. Give them a loss at SD. But, they have a game at Seattle this week and travel cross-state to St. Louis. If they win one of those "winnable" road games. That puts them at 10-6.

Indy is likewise in a precarious position. If they lose, it's their 5th loss. They better go 11-5. Because have already lose 2 div. games. If Tennessee can split with them. I doubt it. But, play along at home. That would give them 6 losses. I think Jax might be able to get to 10 wins too. And, they can win the tie-breaker because of better div. record and split head to head. Jax is at NYG(REALLY BEAT UP), at Tennessee(Not sure K. Collins back by then), Oakland(W), AT Indy (L), Washington (will prob be out of it by this time), and finish at Houston(wrapping up a disappointing season). Not sure how they are doing it. But, 10 wins is within their grasp.

KC and Jax can push both of these teams to the wire and maybe knock them out of the playoffs. Especially, the loser of this week's game.

The Chargers could be very dangerous come playoff time. So I'm a bit torn on this one. I guess I'll be hoping for a tie?

If they lose this week. I don't think they make it.

I have rooted for the Chargers to beat Peyton Manning every single time they've played, this time is no different.

If the Chargers win they're both guaranteed not to be in sole position of 1st place next week, even if the Jaguars and Chiefs lose.

The loser of today's game is in a really tough spot, and you make some really good points. But I'm just not a believer in Jacksonville or Kansas City. I feel like the Chargers especially could win that division with 8 or 9 wins the way it's going in the AFC West. And I just can't believe Jacksonville beats out Indy, no matter what the schedule says. Peyton will find a way to steal a game or two while the Jags will choke on a game you don't expect.

I'd love to be wrong though. I hate both teams. :D

Somehow the Chargers manage to never be dangerous come playoff time...

That said, if we win the division I'd rather see the JETS have to play Indy or Pittsburgh on the road, and if we end up the wild card I'd just as soon skip the trip cross country...and maybe land in KC or Jax and leave one of Indy or Pittsburgh to face the swamplords.

I hate that fan fantasy dreams trump home team best case scenarios all the time these days.

This is what I'm thinking as well. Chargers win puts Indy further back in the division. I think it would be great if Indy missed the playoffs.

Also, if the Chargers win it'll make it easier for them to get to the playoffs where Pats fans should see them as an insurance policy to keep Peyton Manning from winning another ring in case the Pats lose somehow in the playoffs. Think of it this way, which team do you think is the most likely to beat the Colts in the playoffs other than the Pats out of the major contenders right now?

Do you trust Sanchez to beat the Colts? Or the Steelers who keep giving up lots of points in the 2nd half? Or do you trust the team that's had the Colts number for about half a decade now, winning 4 out of the last 5 meetings and knocking Peyton Manning out of the playoffs two years in a row?

the chargers are dangerous come playoff time, unless they're playing an afc east team

that said, i picked sd because of their #1 offense and #1 defense

they've always had peyton's number, making every contest close at the least, win or lose, always close, no blowouts.....

this defense we've got now, the only time they've been really poor on drives, is when they let the other team run the ball all game and drag them around

indy's not going to do that, they're going to pass alot as always

on the flip side, if freeney and mathis can blow by our tackles who get exposed sometimes when playing speed edge rushers, then rivers is going to have to quicken his release even more, which could cause some more wr bobbled ints.

also we've gotta roll with tolbert and sproles, i don't know how well indy does against the bruising rbs, but i know they hate sproles to death

i'd have to imagine the soup of the day will be screen passes and P/A fakes going deep, sanders is still on the shelf right?

i expect this to be a close game, very close

will probably come down to the last drive...unless sd's ST or fumbling screws another game up

Who do I think will win?
I would say the Chargers, even though the game is in Indy.

Who do I want to win?
I really don't know. If, god forbid, the Pats don't win the division and are instead a wildcard team, I would not look forward to them having to go on the road and play either one of these teams.

To me best case scenario is for KC to win the AFCW, and Jacksonville (or Tennessee or Houston) to win the AFCS if the Pats end up as a wildcard. On the other hand if the Pats get a bye I wouldn't mind the Jets and either Pittsburgh or Baltimore having to play San Diego and Indy in the first round.

I'm just going to sit back and enjoy the game, it should be a good one.

if i was a pats fan i'd want to face sd , in sd or in NE

you guys have owned sd in the playoffs

indy on the other hand, not so much ownership of late but i do believe you've yet to lose to indy at home in the playoffs, so for the pats, i'd say the only danger historically , is facing indy in indy.

It's true that the Pats have come out on top in SD, but for the most part they have been close games. The Pats were helped out quite a bit by Charger mistakes this year. It's tough for any team to cross three time zones and win on the road against a good team.

The history part definitely would point to avoiding playing the Colts in Indy, that is true. Can't put my finger on exactly why, but for whatever reason I just seem to have slightly more confidence thinking about playing the Colts again than playing the Chargers again this year.
