    I'll admit, I read this quick and assumed it was just another "we signed who? this is stupid!" thread and was about to jump on you... then I read closer and chuckled.

    Stapleton is very intriguing. He started at RG for the Steelers during there last SB season. Was IR'd last 8/31. Supposedly he is 100% healthy.

    Stapelton seems to be the bigger deal because of our need for bodies at LG, but does anyone know anything about Willingham? Any potential there or another camp fodder / shadow roster type of deal?

    Re: Pats sign G Darnell Stapleton and CB Willingham

    If healthy, it adds another body to the mix at least. The more people we have competing, the more likely it is we find a suitable player. And that's all we really need, with four solid starters at the other OL positions, we just need someone who's not a disaster at LG.

    Could Stapleton be the first black guy on the Patriots offensive line?

    My thoughts exactly.

    As for Farnham, I honestly expected to see him on the PS. Oh well...

    I think Thomas Clayton was the first cut.

    Don't know much about Stapleton but at least he's a body to throw into the mix at guard.

    Maybe Farnham will become somebody else's Wes Welker. But we've already met our small slot receiver quota. Good luck to him. Glad to hear us adding more bodies at guard to compete.

    the fact that the pats are still signing jag G's is not good news that means Dan Connolly, Eric Ghiaciuc, Ted Larsen, and Ryan Wendell, are not realy geting the job done

    It also helps because Neal's injury is more a matter of when than if. We need 3 guards that we're comfortable having start games.

    The first cut was John Wise OL (which I had correctly predicted). Shawn Crable was cut before camp started.

    Good news is that he is young. He is only 24, although he did allow 5 sacks in 12 starts two years ago. To give him the benefit of the doubt Big Ben has perpensity to hold onto the ball a lot longer than he should. Hopefully he will be servicable.

    ================

    The only greater feeling than being the champs of the world, is being the 2-time champs of the world.. Now the quest to be named superbowl champs starts over, and with hard work and dedication this off-season we as an organization should contend for a seventh title. I thank the fans ahead of time for their support.

    I look at six OL spots being set and three being open. With Neal's injury history, Mankins out and Kaczur out, the field is wide open. The more competition the better! I would note that Bussey and Welch are also in the mix.

    At the least it means the guy could be competitve for a roster spot.
    Consdering that we are missing 2 OL, and have many rookies in camp, it isnt necessary that signing a guy is looking for competition as a starter.
