The Branch cut is interesting. Is this a "permanent" move, or is it because of the injuries....?
"Branch injured his hamstring Friday and was questionable for Sunday with the Colts. Led to his release, Salas activation."
Watch the Rats put in a claim for Branch now.
Veteran is released outright. No waivers no claims, right? He'll be back when healthy.
Correction: after trade deadline he is indeed on waivers, but injured.
Injury it is, then. TYVM.
Branch cut is a shocker
I thought he was going to be utilized more when Brady was targeting him more than anyone else in the 1st quarter of the Bills game
I'm pretty sure vested veterans (5yrs, is it?) don't have to go through waivers. Branch is a complete free agent now.
Question on practice squad signings -- when you sign someone off someone else's PS they have to stay on the 53-man roster for at least three games. What about when you promote from your own PS?
Since it is after the trade deadline he must clear waivers. I think not positive. Only reason I say this is because of Minnesota releasing Moss and him going thru waivers to go to Tennessee.
you can sign and release them whenever. ask ross ventrone.

I believe if we cut Salas again we risk losing him. And seeing as another team was already interested in him (which is why we gave him a raise), he is likely going to be on our active roster for the rest of the season.
I am shocked at the Branch move. With Hernandez out and Welker a maybe, aren't they very thin in the WR/TE Corps?
Salas is a WR.
Correct. He can be claimed.
Well Branch hasn't been much of a factor this year.. he cannot get open at all. The 2 plays I remember from him so far are the monster hit he took from Ed Reed and the pick Brady threw when he tried to throw it to him in perfect coverage against the Seahawks.
Nobody better claim him
You don't remember how he kept 3 or 4 of our drives alive against the Rams two games ago?
You're right. Quote from the CBA:
I must be lacking short memory or something, but I really don't lol.
Branch had his best game of the season Sun. But Welker (ankle), Lloyd (knee) and Branch (Hamstring) are all questionable for tomorrow. Leaves only Edelman as a healthy true WR. And he is our least reliable WR. So injuries necessitated the Salas move. They could have released Rivera, for instance, as he has been released and unclaimed previously. They must be reasonably confident that an injured Branch goes unclaimed, but it is a risk.
Separate names with a comma.
