In the first two weeks of the season:

The Pats clobbered the Bengals.
The Bengals beat the Ravens.
The Ravens beat the Jets.
The Jets clobbered the Pats.

That's enough to prove that none of those four teams will win the Super Bowl unless, early next year and most likely indeed later this season, it does some things better than it has been doing them in the first half of September.

But if it proves much else, that much else is eluding me.

I actually like the jets chances if they get to the playoffs. They still have a solid defense and if Sanchez improves it will only improve their chances.

Here's a guy who has a whole ranking methodology based on analyzing transitive wins:

Beatpaths

Cycles like the one you mention are simple ignored as being uninformative. It's much too early in the season for his methodology to be useful, but for that matter it's too early for any ranking/rating method to be useful yet...

Look at the teams heading into week three at 2-0.. the Chiefs, Buccaneers, Steelers, Dolphins, Texans, Bears, Packers, and possibly the Saints.

Who the hell would have bet on any of those besides the Packers and Saints?
