As of the end of October of this year, Brady was 7-0 vs #1 defenses averaging 280yds, 64% cmpt and 3-1 TD INT ratio.

Insane..

Think this team will be hyper motivated. With all this trash talk already going on this week, we will see Psycho Tom, plus Psycho Jules and Psycho (a.k.a. normal) Gronk. They're gonna play balls to the wall all night. Talib better get ready to limp out with an injury early, probably before the second quarter.

I know they weren't ranked #1 but coming back from two 14 point deficits against the Ravens was one hell of an accomplishment. Brady is not afraid of anyone's defense.

That was no easy task. And people overlook or forget that it happened against a top 10 D. The 2014 Ravens finished 6th in points allowed and 8th in yards allowed and Brady came back from 14-down twice against them. Then in the same post-season he came back from 10-down in the 4th against the #1 D.

So no, I'm not afraid of Denver's defense.

Our kids have to be quick as cats...

I never liked using total defense as an indicator of defensive play because it only measures yards. Who gives a damn about yards, it's all about points. This is really the what happens when the Patriots play the #1 defense:

2004:
vs. Steelers = Win 41-27.

2014:
vs. Seahawks = Win 28-24.

Those are the only #1 defenses we've played in the playoffs (2-0 and 34.5 ppg ain't bad).

If we were to expand it to top 3 defenses we get:

2001:
vs. #3 Steelers = W 24-17.

2004:
vs. #1 Steelers = W 41-27.

vs. #3 Eagles = W 24-21.

2005:
vs. #3 Broncos = L 13-27.

2009:
vs. #3 Ravens = L 14-33.

2011:
vs. #3 Ravens = W 23-20.

2014:
vs. #1 Seahawks W 28-24.

2015:
vs. #3 Chiefs W 27-20.

Against top 3 defenses in playoffs, the Patriots are 6-2 and score 24.3 ppg. Not bad overall. I might expand it to top 5 defenses later considering that's where the Broncos fall under (they're number 4).

Expanding on the work from earlier, here is the Patriots playoff record against top 5 defenses in ppg.

2001:
vs. #3 Steelers = W 24-17.

2004:
vs. #1 Steelers = W 41-27.

vs. #3 Eagles = W 24-21.

2005:
vs. #3 Broncos = L 13-27.

2007:
vs. #5 Chargers = W 21-12

2009:
vs. #3 Ravens = L 14-33.

2011:
vs. #3 Ravens = W 23-20.

2014:
vs. #1 Seahawks = W 28-24.

2015:
vs. #3 Chiefs = W 27-20.

So it's basically the same as the previous list except the Chargers in 2007 are thrown in. That brings the record up to 7-2 and the ppg to 23.9.
