From Lombardi this morning:

I’ve been harping on the Eagles and their failure to put anyone on their roster who resembles a blocker. Brent Celek, their starting tight end, doesn’t even get in the way very well, so when the Eagles are in short-yardage and goal-line situations, they’re not effective running the ball strong side. Now, with Alex Smith, they at least have someone who can get in the way and is able to help in pass protection.

With the TE from Oklahoma out for the year, the Eagles should not look at the draft for help. Maybe they could convert a mobile OL guy, ala BB.

I should've called up Andy Reid and offered to get in the way of defenders for rookie minimum.

Why can't we get guys like this Alex Smith person?

The TE they have out for the year was Cornelius Ingram. He was from Florida.

I think he was referring to the OU tight end, Jermaine Gresham, who's out for the year.
