7 early games and 3 late games.

With the popularity of the red zone channels, it would be nice if there were more games in the late time slot. It used to be that the best game of the week would be a late broadcast, so it made sense at that time that a network would have no other games on in that time slot. But that was before MNF, and now SNF has the best game of the week. I'm sure I am not the only person who watches (a) his favorite team, and then (b) the red zone channel.

Some news from Miami on a former Patriot:

Miami Dolphins activate guard Ted Larsen in time for Raiders game | The Daily Dolphin

The Dolphins need some help on the offensive line and they’re about to get a boost.

Veteran guard Ted Larsen was activated from Injured Reserve today, making him available to play Sunday night against the Raiders. He had been out since the preseason after suffering a torn biceps and returned to the practice field this week. Miami coach Adam Gase said Friday the team hadn’t decided yet whether Larsen would be moved to the active roster, let alone whether he would play.

If he’s ready for it, he’ll likely appear at left guard. That’s been a problematic spot for Miami, which lost Anthony Steen to a season-ending injury last week. Jesse Davis is currently in line to start there.

Dolphins activate offensive lineman Ted Larsen (biceps) from injured reserve

Larsen was penciled in as the Dolphins’ starting left guard during training camp, but he tore the biceps muscle in his right arm and began the season on the physically unable to perform list.

With Anthony Steen, who started at left guard for the first six games of the season, placed on injured reserve because of the foot injury he suffered two weeks ago the Dolphins need a quality backup guard for the game. The only other option is rookie Isaac Asiata, but the former Utah standout the Dolphins drafted in the fifth round hasn’t been active for any game this season.

Larsen, a free agent the Dolphins signed to a three-year, $5.65 million contract this offseason, has played in 102 regular-season games, starting 65 of them during his time with Tampa Bay, Arizona and Chicago.

If Larsen, 30, does replace Davis as Miami’s starting left guard it will be the first time all season the Dolphins have the offensive line they envisioned this offseason on the field together.

That unit, which is book-ended by offensive tackles Laremy Tunsil and Ja’Wuan James, has played poorly most of this season because of weak guard play.

The Dolphins’ offense has averaged 76.4 rushing yards per game, and 3.2 rushing yards per attempt, which makes Miami the second-worst rushing team in the NFL. And Miami’s offensive line has allowed 16 sacks in seven games, and ranks 13th in sacks per pass play allowed this season.

Predictions:

3-4 Broncos at 7-1 Eagles (-7½), (41½)
Brock Osweiler gets the start at quarterback for Denver. The Broncos have lost three straight, turning the ball over 11 times in that span. Trevor Siemian had more INT (10) than TD (9), and was sacked on nearly 10% of his dropbacks. Philly has the NFL's number one run defense, which could force Osweiler to throw the ball. The Eagles have also improved their biggest weak spot by trading for RB Jay Ajayi. Philadelphia should be able to cruise into a bye week with their seventh straight victory.
Pick: Eagles win and cover; Philadelphia 24, Denver 13.

3-4 Bengals at 4-3 Jaguars (-6), (39)
The Jacksonville defense is allowing 15.7 points per game, best in the NFL. Cincinnati has turned the ball over 15 times and has a minus-10 turnover differential, both third worst in the league. With the return of RB Leonard Fournette the Jags should be able to run the ball, wear down the Bengal defense, and not have to rely on Blake Bortles to carry the offense.
Pick: Jaguars win and cover; Jacksonville 24-13.

2-6 Colts at 3-4 Texans (-7), (45½)
Another unwatchable NFL game, with two backups starting at quarterback. If nothing else we can cheer on Patriots South to make life more miserable for Irsay, Pagano and whoever else from Indy that was in on the conspiracy to attempt to frame the Patriots in psi-gate.
Pick: under 45½; Houston 20-13.

4-4 Ravens at 4-3 Titans (-3½), (43)
Joe Flacco (concussion) is active and will presumably start over Ryan Mallett at QB for Baltimore. The Ravens will rely on their running game to protect Flacco behind a mediocre offensive line. Tennessee needs to do better in the red zone; they ranks 31st in the RZ, scoring a touchdown just 41% of the time.
Pick: under 43 points; Titans 20, Ravens 17

5-2 Rams (-4½) at 1-6 Giants, (42)
This is a possible trap game for LA. We'll find out if the Rams are for real when they play the Vikings, Saints, Eagles and Seahawks in a five-game stretch in weeks 11-15. Who to root for? Every loss by a NY/NJ team is enjoyable, but even more so considering John Mara's hypocrisy and apparent influence over decisions made at 345 Park Avenue.
Pick: LA minus the points on the road; Rams 24, Giants 17.

2-5 Bucs at 5-2 Saints (-7), (52)
Tampa Bay has just seven sacks this season, the fewest in the NFL. On paper the Bucs appear to be a quality team, but on the field they have performed poorly. Drew Brees will pick on Vernon Hargreaves, just as every QB has done this year to the NFL's worst starting corner. The Saints are due for a loss - they are going for their sixth straight win after an 0-2 start, something only the '93 Cowboys and '07 Giants accomplished.
Pick: Saints win but Bucs cover; New Orleans wins 30-24.

4-3 Falcons (-2) at 5-3 Panthers, (42½)
This looks like the best of all the early games: a tossup between two playoff contenders. An Atlanta loss plus Saints win would put the Falcons two full games behind New Orleans in the NFC South. For Carolina a win plus Saints loss would put the Panthers in first place in the division.
Pick: over 42½; Falcons 27, Panthers 24

3-4 Cardinals (-2½) at 0-8 Niners, (39½)
This has to be the week's most unwatchable game. Two bad teams, both with temporary short-timers at QB (Drew Stanton, CJ Beathard). San Francisco has to win sooner or later, right?
Pick: Niners plus the points; Santa Clara 20-17.

3-4 Redskins at 5-2 Seahawks (-7), (45)
Washington's offensive line is in shambles. Two weeks ago they played with three backups against Philly, then lost two more to injuries. The Skins had to sign three O-linemen this week. On top of that TE Jordan Reed and WR Jamison Crowder are out. Not a good recipe when playing in the NFL's loudest stadium. Seattle has had a porous offensive line as well but a trade for LT Duane Brown should improve that situation. With all the new offensive linemen on both teams, expect plenty of false starts.
Pick: Seahawks minus the points; Seattle 27-17.

6-2 Chiefs at 4-3 Cowboys (-2½), (53½)
Game of the week in the late afternoon time slot. Kansas City run defense (4.9 yards per carry, 29th) has been horrible lately, giving up 194 rushing yards to Pittsburgh and 177 to Denver in recent games - and now the Chiefs D has to go against Ezekiel Elliot.
Pick: over 53½; Cowboys 34, Chiefs 31.

3-5 Raiders (-3) at 4-3 Dolphins (44)
Who to root for in this game? Miami to lose because a win would put them only one game behind New England, with the Patriots approaching the toughest part of their 2017 schedule? Or the Raiders to lose based on 17 years and counting of whining from their fans and former players about the correct officiating call to a bad rule? The Dolphins get some players back from injuries (QB Jay Cutler, WR DeVante Parker, G Ted Larsen) but traded away their best offensive threat, RB Jay Ajayi.
Pick: Raiders minus the points; Oakland 23-17.

3-4 Lions (-2) at 4-3 Packers (43½)
Green Bay's offensive line has been a noticeably weak link for a while. That problem is exacerbated with Brett Hundley, who has four interceptions and five sacks in 59 pass attempts, with a completion rate of 52.5%. Stick a fork in the Packers, their season is done.
Pick: Lions minus the points; Detroit 27-20.

Interesting to see how the jags look after the news with watson gone.

I'm rooting for a Miami loss with the hopes of a KC loss as the icing on the cake...

Those Jaguars uniforms are ugly.

QBs are making some nice throws so far today.

I want the Broncos to win to put pressure on the Chiefs and also knock the Eagles down a peg.

Rams with a quick TD on the Giants

It took oswriler 3 passes to throw an easy pick, that was dropped, and blame it in the receiver. He’s baaaack

TD Brisket! Very nice throw to get Hilton in stride.
