Not really but we are kind of thin at guard \ center. We have an open spot on the PS but we should see Eckel move back to the PS after Rivers getting signed to a 10 year contract.
Eckel versus Elgin - If Elgin shows any potential I would rather have the offensive lineman, FB/RB hybrids are a dime a dozen.
Haha this is very strange thread. Is someone really concerned about Mike Elgin? I guess we could sign him to the practice squad but I agree with the previous post that Eckel is more likely to take that last practice squad spot if he is released for Rivers or a PUP activation in a few weeks. I think if the Pats saw potential in Elgin or had future plans for him they would have signed him to their practice squad after camp. Koppen's injury does not seem that serious so I would expect him back soon leaving Hochstein and Yates as very serviceable backups in the interior line.
Elgin was a guy who although undersized showed some promise in the pre-season. I wouldn't mind seeing the Patriots sign him to the practice squad-with a little bulking up and some seasoning, he might become a player.
The young guy with an upside is always viewed as though the brightest dreams and potential were a lock. Eckel used to be regarded that way. Now he is a JAG to be jettisoned for the next JAG.
