Major Patriots bashing in The Sporting News

The thing that most of these media A**holes don't take into account is how players WHO ARE HERE comport themselves that matters. NOT what they have done in the past. AND that is how Moss SHOULD BE judged, not on is past actions, but what he does here, and how he comports himself in this enviroment.

None of those "morally superior" media pukes would ever survive some of their OWN past escapades. Denis SHOULD NEVER throw stones at ANYONE with his adulterous, drunken past. Freddy Smerlas was a ledgend at Mary Ann's in Cleveland Circle during his BC days, and its not for gentlemanly behavior..... and the Bobby Orr and Derick Sanderson stories I could tell...... :D

The fact is that Moss DID quit on that Oakland team. Its understandable, but not something that shouldn't be acknowledged. Moss SHOULD be on a short leash here in NE. He has more to prove than just his talent. I honestly believe that being here is going to be more of a benefit to him than to the Patriots. Corey was reborn as the loving but cranky crumdgeon who challenged the media and fans when they wrote him off because of his age, but did it withing the team concept and wasn't nasty. Randy has a chance to show that he is more of the playful immature prodigy and let THAT can be his legacy, instead of the pouting selfish, spoiled brat image he has now.

Don't forget the there are 2 things that the media LOVES to do. The first is to build up a team/player/organization beyond reason. The other is to tear down the very thing they have built up. The Media has built the Pats up to unreasonable standards and now feel free to take unfair shots at the same organization.

Believe me if the Pats are lucky enough to win another championship you'd better be prepared for a few sancamonious media types who will want to put an * next to the record, or claim illogically that the Pats lowered their standards and bought a Championship
Thank you. Moss DID quit on the Raiders, and thats something you never do no matter how ****ty the team is. It's all up to Randy on whether he takes advantage of this golden opportunity to play for a diciplined team that can get him his ring, or blow it by being himself.

Some in the media are steamed because a few years ago, they interpreted the Patriots unwillingness to keep on the roster those players who've had problems to be that the team has a policy of acquiring only good, stable citizens as players. This, as so many other views the media presented, has become overly distorted.

Now, when the Pats draft Meriweather and sign Moss, the supposed policy offered up and described by the media, gets smashed. Those in the media who propped up this misperception became insulted and called it hypocrisy. Hypocrisy because the team didn't follow the model that the media has proposed.

This is proof that these people make up their own elaborate stories, and if the stories change making the original perception by the media inaccurate, they'll go out and accuse someone else of being hypocritical.

What a world!

Kenyatta Jones, I think. One of the things the media doesn't notice is that while we do have players that get into trouble, they aren't tolerated long. Jones went, and so did his room-mate JR Redmond. Never did understand the connection there, but there was more to it than was in the papers.

Redmond was not the guy Jones threw the scalding water on. It was his "roommate" in his actual home, not on the road for Patriots games (yes, the whole thing was odd... but I'm not going to question anyone's lifestyle choices). Redmond being cut was a reflection of talent, not character.

If the Packers had done the deal it would have been a great move to try to bring one last Lombardi home for Favre. Writers are stupid.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record: The only restriction for BB and Pioli was the wish from Kraft to bring no thugs or hoodlums in. Other than that, it seems that the media in particular has a very narrow definition of 'character'. It seems to describe 'good guys', the next best thing to a choir boy, minus the high voice and silly innocence.
What BB and Pioli look for when they talk about character is something else, and has all to do with what they look for in a football player. There's nothing wrong with being the good guy, helping an old lady across the street-kind of guy, but you better be prepared to work your butt off in the weight room and the practice field, push yourself further because someone else is eyeing your spot in the line up, being a tough SOB who is willing to use a loophole in the rules or bend those rules to add some punishment during a play as long as you are very well aware how far you can take it. This game isn't played by choirboys, certainly not at the level of the NFL, so someone who's looking for those kind of "qualities", is severely deluded.
Even then, there is still a wide gap between "complete and utter moron" and "little quiet, keeps to himself, but a great teammate". And shouldn't we forget that the media likes to concentrate on the bad side of things, since the good side simply isn't interesting enough.
