If he has a boot on then he has to have had some kind of setback in his recovery because otherwise he would be pretty close to being ready to go (if not already).

Wow I found this list which shows soccer players who broke bones in their feet and how long it took for them to recover. Look at the disparities between how long the expected and actual returns are.

Michael Owen (2006): Fifth metatarsal - predicted 6-8 weeks returned 17 weeks later
Wayne Rooney (2004): Fifth metatarsal - predicted 8 weeks returned 14 weeks later
David Beckham (2002): Second metatarsal - predicted 6 weeks returned 7 weeks later
Gary Neville (2002): Fifth metatarsal - predicted 6-8 weeks returned 21 weeks later
Ashley Cole (2005): Fifth metatarsal - predicted 6-8 weeks returned 12 weeks later
Scott Parker (2004): Second metatarsal - predicted 8 weeks returned 34 weeks later
Danny Murphy (2002): Second metatarsal - predicted 6 weeks returned 21 weeks later
Steven Gerrard (2004): Fifth metatarsal - predicted 6-8 weeks returned 10 weeks later

Thomas broke his at the end of May so it's been about 14-15 weeks.

Curt Schilling wore a protective boot on his foot when he showed up for his 2004 ALCS start. How did that turn out?

Before we write off Gutierrez we might wish to ponder whom he was working against and which reserves were teamed with him. It's also reasonable to note how Tom Brady was reported doing in his first Training Camp - see Malloy, Lawyer and Brady, Tom in the 2001 America's Game program by NFL Network. Albert's probably right that Gut is making poor decisions, but he wasn't signed as a top five draft pick either. The kid I watched against Tampa Bay wasn't that bad.

That's like comparing a water buffalo to an aardvark. No more Desperate Housewives references, please.

This doesn't seem like the typical Breer article. Though he's human, he usually has his facts straight.

Who is Brian Davis?? I know the Pats signed TE Brian JONES. But I've not heard of Brian Davis.

Unless he beats out Cassell he's destined for the PS. We will need at least one QB on the PS just to keep Brady's arm fresh and from what I read (and seen) he hasn't been doing so badly enough to require being cut.
