I don't have an issue with him personally since I haven't met him or interacted with him. I will say I'm not a big fan of his attribution practices, which are done at the bare minimum. He links three words in his article back to the original source he's quoting, and what he or his guys write basically re-writes the piece as if it was their own original report...it's odd and hard to explain. And to make matters worse, anytime he references a previous report in an article, he just links back to the PFT page he posted and not the original report.
I get why he does it as it drives a lot of inter-site views. I just have a hard time feeling comfortable with that practice since it hurts the original source. Every time I post anything that's from another report, I always try and mention the writer and the source instead of just the newspaper or site, and make sure I try and emphasize that's where it came from. It's a tough gig and as much as many complain we've got a lot of people in this market that really do a good job keeping us all informed. So it annoys me a bit when I see him make a local story a national one and then not name the reporter who made it possible for him to get his site and NBC a ton of page views.
Although then again here I am and meanwhile he's been bought out by NBC and has his gig. Such is life when you try and do the right thing I guess
