He's supposed to be a rotational player.

Jamie Collins is going to be our best defensive player and a legitimate DPOY candidate in my opinion, the kid has 115 tackles, 4 sacks, and 2 interceptions in his second season. The overall play of Collins is unmatched by any other LB in the NFL.

Not counting that amazing play that would have sealed the deal against the Ravens, a sack, fumble recovered and touchdown score, nullified by a Mevis holding.

Said it before when Chandler and Gronk are tearing it up by week 3 they'll talk about our new TE being the best free agent signing along with none other than....... Sheard. Guy is a beast, that's all i have to say so don't believe me just watch ;)

Can he block? If he can he sure will be.

Yea because Belichick just gives $7 mill a year to JAG players all the time....

Understanding your obvious point about Belichick not having a tendency to waste money, the terms of Sheard's deal were actually about 5.5m dollars a year, or 2/11. Either way, your point is quite valid.

I think there's some good reason to be excited about him.

He barely slipped out of the 1st round a few years ago, and has averaged 7.0 sacks per year when you take out his injury plagued 2014, where he toughed it out for the team.

It will all come down to Easley, if he performs as expected we are gonna have a very nice rotation. Sheard is not insurance, he is a great signing and maybe we have in Branch the replacement for Vince, not needing to draft a NT. We may draft another DT with rushing skill set and get a LB like Casillas for depth. This front 7 will be fine.
