cna you use that for other websites too?

It can be used for most of the websites that do not require a subscription fee. i.e nytimes, projo, ny post, courant. The easiest thing is just try typing the website into the box and see if a user name and password appears.

The Pats should steal Dominic Rhodes. Not the fastest or strongest but a savvy vet.

And Rhodes did his best work coming in fresh during the 2nd halves of games for the Colts.

If one game defined the true value of Corey Dillon to the New England Patriots, it was the 2004 AFC Divisional Playoffs versus the Colts.

I love watching McGinest on the sideline of that game.

I just wonder how the Pats are going to handle this. It doesn't make sense to just release him and eat the money and what if he does change his mind, he's making out twice. I think that's unlikely. I wonder if they could negotitate a buyout or Corey could give back part of his signing bonus.

Very strange how he wants to be released.

thanks for the memories Dillon.

SUPERBOWL 39 CHAMPIONS

I do think he wants to be released and then sign on with another team, which the retirement thing is just a ploy of his to get his release.. Maybee Im wrong but PFT thinks the same thing.. If he retires, he did some great things for us, and I thank him, but if he ends up signing say San Diego or Seattle for a couple yrs as a short yrd specialist, then I will firmly believe there was more than meets the eye..

I just think he feels it's time. Usually when a player gets to that point, the only way they come back is in a fresh situation. Look no further than Seau.

**** Vermeil thought it was time to leave coaching when he retired from the Rams, it wasn't that he wanted more money. The KC job gave him the spark again.

It doesn't mean it was a ploy if he signs with someone else.

Very strange how he wants to be released.

If he is released, then the Patriots don't have the right to ask for SB money back. If he retires, then the Patriots can ask for some of the money back. At least that is what another poster implies.

Corey was and always be a warrior. It was time.

and the pats just can't give him a portion of the signing bonus?
He got the signing bonus when he signed. If they released him they would have to have an agreement for him to pay some back - if not they've paid it and are obligated to account for it on the cap. Either 100% this year or one year this year and the rest next. If he retired they could force him to return it, there's precedent for that.

What if Dillon files retirement papers with the NFL/NFLPA prior to the New England Patriots organization course of action?

I think his main reason is that as he got older, he just kept getting nicked up. He was never ever healthy. Groin, quad and shoulder problems just never seemed to go away. It happens.

I swear Corey Dillon and Keith Foulke are doubles. They both arrived in '04 with baggage, had monster seasons with no problems and were huge parts of championships, had injury-laden '05s where they were shells of their former selves, had minor rebound seasons in more limited roles the next year, then left for an opportunity to have bigger parts somewhere else. If Corey signs with Cleveland and then retires right before camp, I'll be a little freaked out.

Dillon Salary Cap Impact

Andy - How do the Pats gain cap room? Dillon has 5.76 million in Signing bonus amortization remaining? His cap hit this year was supposed to be only 4.4 million. Did they change things regarding players retiring because the last I knew was that the entire remaining amount would still be brought forward. Hopefully Miguel can enlighten us on this.

1. I believe that the $5,767,500 (amortized over three years) listed on Miguels site INCLUDES a $3M option bonus due in the immediate future. If true, the Patriots can (and should) release Dillon now. Our 2007 dead money for Dillon will be between $2.5M and $3M. (I'm not certain that the option bonus is exactly $3M, it may be slightly larger.)

2. Since the Patriots were not likely to pick up the option bonus, I imagine that they were negotiating an extension that would have reduced his total compensation. I think that this announcement from Dillon means that the negotiations have failed. He may be serious about retiring, but the way he is going about this suggests to me that if he can find a team willing to pay him good money (say $4M), he is up for another year.

Dillon was already retired in his own mind while he was playing. The fact he'd happily trot off the field after getting his proscribed carries this year showed me that. Thanks for the ring, Corey.

I like Rhodes... but how about Jamal Lewis, anyone? Too expensive?

There could be some accuracy to all this, it was a very weird strctured contract.

Damn. Thank you Corey Dillon. You were a great RB and are a great man. I'll never forget that time in camp when you stayed for more than 2 hours after practice to sign autographs and chat with the kids. My son was one of them. Neither of us will ever forget that day. Class act all the way. You will be missed.

Damn right. His form in 2004 was outstanding. No disrespect to Antowain Smith, but Brady basically carried the offense on his shoulders in the first two SB's. Dillon relieved that pressure.

That's an AWESOME pic! And that was a TD!!!

Thanks for everything, CD. A true warrior and the best playmaker on the 2004 team. Glad he got his ring.

Corey is a beast...You can see it in his eyes at the afcc game....Thanks for warrior spirit...I wander who is a likely replacement and don't forget Kevin isn't a young buck either...Should we look to kill two birds with one stone:confused: Hey,Corey enjoy the golfing you earn the right:rocker:

No thanks. Too expensive and he just doesn't seem to have it anymore.

Kind of odd that the Globe prints quotes from Dillon basically saying he's done, though leaving the door open. Then, the Herald prints quotes from his agent saying he's not retiring, that he has a couple good years left, but wants to play with another team.

What is going on here?

The part about asking for his release first makes me question his motives. He wants to be made an unrestricted free agent so he can retire? That isn't exactly a normal request from a guy retiring.
