It's easy, and only takes a few moments. As nice as it is at times there is no place I'd rather be than in a bar surrounded by Patriots fans. Got a chance to do that in Portland, OR last week and it was great. Check out Yur's if you are in town on gameday.
James Bond would have direct satellite feed to his smartphone.C'mon TigerJohn.........you MUST give us the background to your story over there.
Myanmar is one very (until a couple of years ago) isolated (and beautiful) place. You watch Pats games at different embassies? Are you James Bond? It's been a big snowstorm day here on the East Coast of the US and some of us are a bit stir crazy. Throw us a bone.
The Most Interesting Man in the World wouldn't be issuing frantic pleas on an Internet message board. The game would've been moved to Burma for him. Or at least rescheduled for his viewing convenience.First, Dikembe. Now we have The Most Interesting Man in the World in our midst.
I've checked all of the Sports Bars, my hotel does not have a fast enough Wifi connection to watch online. Is there anyone on the forum that is in Yangon and will be watching live tonight? Any tips/help appreciated.
It was actually easier to watch NFL games way back.................... but problem this time is that the internet is not fast enough.
OK, oddly enough, I've got a friend here in DC who had a significant diplomatic position over there for years, and is still highly involved in the country. I'll send you a PM if I'm successful; odds are about 20%. (It is a bit of a strange request, for a stranger, and this person isn't a football fan as far as I know, and is hard to reach anyway). I'll give it a shot; wtf.
I don't think that is what Shmessy meant TJ. We need to know the story behind the story. What brought a Pats fan to SE Asia for all these years. How do maintain your fandom. You know, the good stuff. It was actually easier to watch NFL games way back in 2001/2002 when they were all on ESPN Asia. I watched the Raiders game in Nan, Thailand, the Steelers in Mae Hong Sohn up near Chiang Mai (and was forced to get a 7-11 employee to close the shop at 4:30am to take me back to my hotel on motorcycle to avoid the roaming packs of dogs in the streets), and superbowl XXXVI on the beach in Krabi after I paid the porter $20 to open the bar at 6am.
Then there was the 24-14 game over the Colts in 2003/2004 which I watched here in Yangon. Every other playoff game was in the US except for 2007 and 2011 superbowls which were in Singapore. I decided I needed to get to US soil for the game last year thinking the embassy might count and apparently it worked. I've already lined up a spot at the Singapore embassy if we win today.
These days in SE Asia the NFL is on select sports channels on the most expensive tiers of local cable and satellite packages (ESPN just carries soccer) and it's harder to watch except for the superbowl. The NFL game pass is a good product but problem this time is that the internet is not fast enough.

Update: Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and particularly betterthanthealternative who offered to work diplomatic connections to find me a tv. Bribing bar employees to stay open didn't work and the Myanmar "4G" network apparently isn't all that 4G. I've made a deal with the hotel to have unlimited bandwidth during the game (2:30am), which the IT guy assures me will be enough as they normally restrict to any single user which is why it hasn't worked so far so hopefully I am all set.

Hmm, never even heard of this country. Good luck to you.
Now isn't this much better and infinitely more interesting use of our time than watching BSPN pre-pre- pre game coverage of Peyton Manniing's toilet rituals. While you are 100% right, Ken, let's let John sleep. They are 11.5 hours ahead of EST, which means he needs to get up at 4:35am to watch this game. It is now 10;35pm there, so if you aren't asleep right now, John, get the hell to sleep!!!!!!!
I can, but someone would be offering an NFL owner an illegal substanceHow COOL is the above post?
Of course, on Patsfans.com you can read about a guy who is trying to get the game in Myanmar......and then another guy KNOWS someone who has some previous connections in Myanmar and may be able to help him out.
I NEVER cease to be amazed by this place.
(Imagine THIS ever happening on an Indy Colts forum???)
won't be unlimited, will be limited by their upstream provider. some years back I had an FBI friend tell me about an investigation in Karachi that hinged on an apartment building wired with Cat5 (ethernet) cabling for distribution of Internet coming from a backbone capable only of dialup speed. So your hotel could give you all they've got but that's really all they can get from their source. hopefully it should be good enough. might be prudent to structure the contract with incentives, pay for performance.Update: Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and particularly betterthanthealternative who offered to work diplomatic connections to find me a tv.
