Curran was told if Brady admits guilt then league will consider returning picks

Even if he actually did do it I'd rather live the rest of my life believing the lie, lose the picks, and have him forced into actually serving the suspension than have him admit guilt at this point. Absurd.

Translation:

"Look, we know you did it. We know you did, and frankly, your story just doesn't make sense. It doesn't add up with the evidence. Just tell us what we want to here. Tell us the truth. Otherwise, you're going to fry... If you can't tell us the truth, what really happened, then I can't help you. It's going to be much, much worse for you. So...just admit what you did, and we'll do whatever we can to be lenient on the penalty. But it all starts with you. You have to tell us the truth. Let's go over your story again..."
I think you have it backwards, it's we know nothing happened. We thought we had you so we jumped to conclusions, we've come too far to turn back or we'll look like bigger fools than we already do so just say you did it so we look like we knew what we were doing all along.

More or less.... As per his Quick Slants podcast. Says he heard this from a league official after Goodells presser.

LOL. How stupid do they think Tom is?

mod edit: starts at about the 27-minute mark:

I have a bridge to sell ya.

What?! How stupid do they think Tom is? First off they said they would "consider" it. If Tom really did it and he felt guilty about the draft picks and he wanted to fess up after all that has gone on then I would want it guarenteed in writing that those picks come back. The negative to that is then the perception that Tom wasted the teams time, the leagues time and more importantly the courts time. I imagine a scenerio where because of all the chaos the league believed Tom caused by not fessing up from the start that they give Bill his picks back but then slap a 8 game suspension on Tom for denying then admitting. That would be a disaster. My guess is that the NFL is floating this idea because they're getting some heat for all their inconsistencies. We know them all. So they're still trying to save face with that "offer" because they know they wrongly stole 2 picks from the Patriots.

Stating the obvious here but as time goes on Bob never should have remained quiet and let the course of time play things out. However, as Bob said he was given some assurances that if he stopped the rhetoric then Brady would be given a fair shake at his appeal hearing. Clearly that didn't happen and Bob looks like an idiot.

With that said it was all academic anyway. They were never giving the picks back or letting Tom go.

Dumbass.

If that is true it is messed up. Oh they'd consider it all right...and then say no. Are you kidding me? I would very much love to napalm the entire NFL headquarters.
I have a few cans in the basement if you want to stop by!
