Colts Subvert Injury Reporting Rules on Luck

This is clearly cheating, for the member that asked what kind of difference this would make, it's pretty obvious that defenses would aim his wounds to lessen him or take him out of the game, this is how it works in the trenches.

Colts have a history of cheating from piping in crowd noise...so surely roger must levy a harder punishment...right?

The Colts have a pattern of behavior of not being honest and forthright about injuries. When Dungy was there, he wasn't up front about a knee injury Marvin Harrison had. He kept saying that Harrison was getting close and might play and then held him out of the game. This went on for several weeks. With Manning, it was a surprise when the news came out that he had 3 procedures on his neck. The story before that was he had one surgery.

Looking at the situation, in general, this could have all been avoided if the Colts just put "Andrew Luck, shoulder, ribs - probable" on the injury report, right? They don't need to produce x-rays of his ribs, so Pagano could say they were sore or bruised. In terms of disclosing the injury to the league, they'd be covered. Why not just do that?

You know the NFL and "protecting the shield."
There's a crack in the shield.

The question is, can an NFL team other than the Patriots ever do anything that will result in goodell taking away a first round draft pick?

For the reasons that you just listed, this sounds like the perfect situation for goody to take a first from the Colts

League has to come down on them hard to make up for letting them get away with noisegate.

In the past teams have been fined for this. Jets:$75K... Bills and Ravens$20K... But what makes this different, IMO, is the Colts are hiding it by saying the injury report "is accurate".

From the league policy manual (http://uaasnfl.blob.core.windows.net/live/1818/2015-injury-report-policy.pdf):

"It is NFL policy that information on all injured players be supplied by clubs to the league office, the opposing team and local media each game week of the regular season and postseason (including for the two Super Bowl teams the week between the Championship Games and the Super Bowl). The information must be credible, accurate, and specific within the guidelines of the policy.

All players with significant or noteworthy injuries must be listed on the report, even if the player takes all the reps in practice, and even if the team is certain that he will play in the upcoming game. This is especially true of key players and those players whose injuries have been covered extensively by the media.

This policy is of paramount importance in maintaining the integrity of the game."

The bolded part makes me laugh. Let's see what Goodell does with the "integrity of the game" issue that is so clearly stated in black and white.

That's an interesting perspective. From what we've heard, other owners wanted Goodell to come down hard on the Patriots both times because they have been so successful.

The Colts don't have the SB wins, but they have won a lot over the last 15 years or so and the only year they were truly bad, they ended up selecting what everyone thought would be the next franchise QB. Up until 3 or 4 years ago, the GM of the Colts was the head of the competition committee and championed rules changes that benefitted his team. We've seen Dungy collude with Fisher on the finish of a game, the team pump in crowd noise in their old stadium, intentionally lose a game to avoid a perfect season, and then intentionally tank a season to get the top draft pick. Off the field, we've seen questionable personal behavior from the owner of the team.

If the owners really are a petty and childish as we've seen, I've got to believe they are pressuring Goodell to severely penalize the Colts for this latest transgression, especially the owners in Houton, Tennesee, and Jacksonville. Good job, Roger. This is what you created.

Don't kid yourself. No NFL owner is pushing Roger to do ANYTHING about the Colts. There is one team, and one team only, in the crosshairs. And it resides in Foxboro, Massachusetts.

It's a matter for the NFL integrity crew now.

Just to clarify. That's obviously a 10 second fantasy spin board where you select a team of numbers, or colors and compete against the other numbers and colors on the board for the ball. Use the code "INTEGRITY" and they will match your first bet, I mean fantasy stake, up to $200

Here is a link to when a team mate gently taps Luck on the ribs. (this is linked to not uploaded so it is not hosted on this site)
This was on the Colts forum. Something very wrong.
