Tennessee Titans quarterback Chris Simms was busted early this morning in the West Village driving high on marijuana with his 8-months pregnant wife in the passenger seat, The Post has learned.
Simms and his wife Danielle, both 29 of Nashville, were stopped as Simms drove their 2009 Mercedes Benz through an NYPD Manhattan South Task Force checkpoint on W. Houston Street at about 1:05 a.m., according to a source.
“I was smoking marijuana in the car earlier,” Simms told cops, prosecutor Lauren Perry said during Simms’ arraignment this afternoon in Manhattan Criminal Court.
Simms — who has a 4-year-old daughter — reeked of marijuana and had red eyes, a flushed face and slurred speech, sources told The Post.
I think it'd be hard to top @Ice_Ice_Brady's take from that infamous article.
Chris Simms was so stoned that the Tennessee Titans quarterback was "like a zombie," the cop who arrested him at a traffic stop told jurors on Monday.
Simms, 30, son of former Giants quarterback Phil Simms, reeked of marijuana and refused to take a blood test after the July 1 stop, Police Officer Francisco Acosta said.
"He was out of it, like a zombie," Acosta told jurors. "He was very, very unsteady on his feet."
Acosta, expected to be the only prosecution witness, said he pulled Simms over at the W. Houston St. checkpoint after he saw him speeding and driving erratically. Simms admitted that he had smoked marijuana, Acosta said.
Defense lawyer Harvey Steinberg said the cop got it all wrong and that the football player said his friends had been smoking.
Simms was with his pregnant wife and two friends on the way home to New Jersey from a party and dinner when he was busted in a Mercedes-Benz SUV.
