CBS to Air 8 ?Thursday Night Football? Games in Fall 2014 - Ratings | TVbytheNumbers
I'm conflicted on this/ YEs, it helps the NFL because viewership will increase. But, i think this will hurt the NFL network.
CBS will air eight Thursday Night Football games in 2014 | ProFootballTalk
Not a fan of the Saturday games
I honestly don't care about NFLN. Their broadcasts suck, this is good news.
I think Mayock is very good, what would you rather have more Phil Simms.
We need more games with 3-4 days rest. Players are healing too quickly.
I really miss the Saturday games late I the year, really liked those as a kid.
Kind of hate Thursday night. They were awful this year and quite frankly most of them were sloppy due to short prep and recovery times.
As to who airs them I could care less.
Simms is the best commentator right now, so hell yeah.
more than the commentators its about the replays and cameras and game coverage and NFLN sucks big time in this . Finally they got the professionals in.
I like Mayock too he's got some good insight
Mayock is really annoying. Not too bothered about this, hopefully they'll pick some decent games now
I miss the Saturday games too. More Saturday games, less Thursday games!!
This will never happen of course, but my solution is that proposed earlier by Ray Didinger in Philly:
Start the bye weeks after Week 6;
Start the Thursday night games after the first bye week;
Have the participants of the Thursday night games be those who had a bye the previous week;
Have the last bye week before Thanksgiving;
Stop the Thursday night games after Thanksgiving weekend;
Then commence the Saturday games the following weekend.
This is great news.
NFL Network, by a mile, has the worst NFL game presentation.
Brad Nessler is THE most boring NFL commentator I've ever heard. His voice/inflection seriously makes Joe Buck seem like Gus Johnson. It actually took away my enjoyment from the game. While I have no personal problem with Mayock, he just doesn't belong in the booth, he's a draft guy.
Not to mention the NFLN's TNF music, graphics, etc. were all just so bad, flat and depressing. CBS will make it seem more like the prime-time game it is. Say what you will about Nantz and Simms, but at least they belong there, Nessler/Mayock felt amateur.
NFLN sucks at games..so this is ok i guess
Yeah, by the end of a Thursday night game, we know the Combine Shuttle times of every player on field... and what the scouts were saying about them after their sophmore season at Podunk U.
Of course, the game we are watching always stinks to high heaven, but at least we've got the Shuttle Cone times.:rocker:
This is stupid, sooner or later the continued spread out of the schedule both here and in Europe will take away the tradition of Sunday afternoon Football and all that is associated with it..
Part of the NFL is the traditions associated with the game itself, and this does not lend itself to doing that.
The only thing it does, and perhaps the most important thing to the NFL, is increase advertising revenues...
This isn't adding games or even changing their time slot...its about who is broadcasting the games.
SO what you are saying is more chances to watch more football games is bad, because it is much better to only watch football on Sundays, and the only good thing more times for us to watch football does is make the NFL more successful. Got it, those morons.
So are we looking at an early season Pats/Jets Thursday night game ?
Even worse how about the Thursday game after flying back from a Sunday game in San Diego.
I hate the idea of Saturday games. I'm already an unfocused mess when I go to the bar and football highlights are running on the TV.
I don't need more reasons to stay home on weekend nights.
