Not sure how legal this is...
What if you offered a restricted free agent $500,000 for every game he played in a certain city? Is that possible?

So if Sanders was offered a $500,000 bonus for each game played in Pittsburg, we wouldn't be on the hook for nearly as much as the Steelers.
Or are bonuses of that sort not allowed?

they used to do that kind of poison pill stuff, but the league started cracking down on it, and it's generally frowned on.

you can read about it here

edit: as a matter of fact, that's why the pats kicked in an extra 7th to the dolphins on the welker deal -- to avoid all that.

It is explicitly disallowed in the new CBA after becoming an unwritten rule during the last CBA (specifically Welker).

Poison Pills are now Illegal. But for what it's worth, I believe that your Notion is an outrageously insidious, duplicitous, scheming, underhanded, and cravenly treacherous bit of HornSwoggling.

My compliments. :D
