...but I do not think that it would be completely absurd for the Patriots to draft a RB on the first day to share time with Maroney. The is no certainty as to what Maroney actually is. Personally, I see alot of promise, but I also do not see Sammy Morris cutting it if Lawrence goes down with an injury or if he is flat out ineffective.

Micheal Bush (6'2" 247#) out of Louisville could probably be had in the 3rd, possibly 4th, round. And whomever takes him will be getting an abosulte steal provided his knee has healed properly. I believe that he could be really effective in a Brandon Jacobs type role.

Here are his stats, what do you guys think?

    2003: 81 ATT / 503 / 6.2 AVG / 6 TDS
    2004: 132 ATT / 734 / 5.6 / 7 TDS
    2005: 205 ATT / 1143 / 5.6 / 23 TDS
    2006: 17 / 128 / 7.5 / 3TDS

That is not crazy at all, and it should really be considered.
The three backs I most want NE to look at:

    Michael Bush
    RB | (6'1", 251, 4.6) | LOUISVILLE

    Dwayne Wright
    RB | (5'11", 226, 4.81) | FRESNO STATE

    Brandon Jackson
    RB | (5'11", 212, 4.48) | NEBRASKA

The 3rd down back/WR I want them to look at:
    Lorenzo Booker
    RB | (5'10", 193, 4.42) | 17/23 Wonderlic score. | FLORIDA STATE

bush round 3 or 4? noooooo

if he proves he back from injury he'll go 2nd round.

RB wouldnt be a bad pickup but not before round 4. We have 3 picks in first 3 rounds..we need defense still ...

Not crazy at all, but it would cost a roster slot, so the guy has to be a great addition and great value.

I like Michael Bush and think they should seriously give him a look, but I don't think they'll draft him. You didn't say anything about Dwayne Wright, Jackson, or Booker. Any thought on the three?

Also, I agree NE should go defense first.

What are your opinions of LaMarr Woodley? I have some ideas about him, but I would like to hear your opinion first...

    OK. I see them going:
    M Bush -2nd
    B Jackson- 2nd-3rd
    L Booker- 3rd
    D Wright- 5th

I like them all. I don't see us getting Bush; I see him getting drafted between 40-60(and he's not the type that I'd trade up to get). I would look @ Jackson & Booker @ 91, just from a value standpoint. Wright, if he slips to us late...

I don't understand why so me of us are down on Sammy Morris. Sure he doesn't have 'the name' to make us excited over him, however, his stats from last year and career average are alright for a back up. He torched us for 123 yards last year and that was against a damn good run defense. His career average is 3.9 which is very good for a career backup. That is exactly what he is - a back up. He was never brought in here to be a starter. Many people remember that last image of Maroney and that was getting stuffed in the back field against Indy. That was with healing ribs. I would run gingerly as well with cracked ribs. Look at how a healthy Maroney runs. Think back to his first 2 NFL carries against Buffalo in that first game. He hit the holes hard, sliced and diced his way through both lines. He will be fine.

Ok, lets get a couple things straight. While Morris is good, lets put what he did against the Pats in the 2nd game into perspective. The Pats didn't have Seau in there. And Seau made a TON of difference on the defense.

Now, I firmly believe that Morris is a good addition, but he is replacing Patrick Pass. Unfortunately, the Pats have shown that they need to have 5 backs capable of running the ball. Especially with how Faulk gets hurt every season now.

Its why I can see them adding a Brian Leonard type player who brings some similar characteristics that Faulk does, but also has straight line speed ala Corey Dillon.

Wright: powerful guy..coming off injury. He hit the hole, break tackles but doesnt have the breakaway speed. Hes got decent-good speed. He blocks well and hes a smart player

Jackson: havent seen much of him honestly but hes fast and patient. he can make plays but he split time in college and his draft grade is higher because his potential. Wont burn past people but hes quick and did a lot of blitz pickup and receiving. He also had a few injuries, hand and shoulder i think

Booker: i've seen him a lot..hes very fast, very quick but hes light/small. Hes strong for his size however and has a compact build. He can catch, run away from defenders. Not like Reggie Bush but very quick and fast. I like him a lot .. he'll make agood change of pace back and 3rd down back. In a situation like MJD or Norwood early in season where u give them a few carries and they'll bust a few long ones. Its too bad FSU sucked so bad last few seasons with Leon Washington and Booker b/c they have so much potential and Booker was highly rated coming out of HS but FSU didnt utilize him right and they struggled.their OL wasnt very good either.

Woodley - i felt he was overrated for a lot the season..hes a good player and all but not first rounder..and hes been injured since senior bowl and hasnt done drills so im a little worried but hes not as fast/quick as people make him out to be where he can play OLB. He'd be a better DE or ILB rather than OLB. i like his mentality/playing attitude. Hes a tough guy but being tough doesnt make you. I dont really like him as a prospect for us honestly. I feel hes been overrated and the "OLB because hes a pass rusher" crap is nothing but BULL. Hes not quick enough to play OLB or fluid

You are not crazy. It could happen... and it wasn't a knee, but just a broken leg.

LOL! you stole my idea for Woodley. LaMarr is 6'1" 269lbs, and runs a 4.67 40 time. After watching more of him, and reading multiple scouting reports I think he could play ILB, plus he would add even more versatility to NE's defense.

Wright is actually not coming off an injury. Dwayne had a signifigant injury a few years ago (2004), but I am pretty sure he was injury free in 2006. Wright doesn't possess elite top end speed, but he has shown the ability to break 50-60 yard runs. I've watched him play a number of times, and I really like the guy. His being married and having two kids, as well as being a really good lockerroom guy make him even more attractive. Scouts Inc. has Wright going in the final two rounds, but I have seen him going in the 3rd-4th elsewhere. Hopefully they're right and he slips.

I really like Booker in that third down back role, and I think he has the frame to add on about 15 pounds, which would make him even more of a duel threat. He does have some sweet moves, and catching ability.

Jackson, at 212lbs is actually pretty fast (4.48 - 40). While he doesn't have elite speed, he does have a very good burst and second gear. I've watched this kid beat a lot of people to the corner. Plus, Brandon's vision & balance remind me of Maroney. Who I loved prior to the draft last year.:)

    Nice stuff.

I need to add that while Bush would be effective in the Brandon Jacobs pound it up the gut role, he is much more than that. Bush is also an effective pass catcher, and has the ability to break it 60 yards.

Just to stay crazy for a while, what if the Patriots drafted Marshall Lynch. He reminds me of Edge James when he came out of Miami. I think he is going to be very good, more upside than Maroney.

Now this guy really might be crazy. Saying that Lynch has more upside that Maroney, I would love to hear you elaborate on this point. Also, you are basically stating that we should spend 2 #1s on RB, that also seems a little "crazy". You sure you are sober?
