    So long Geno!

However, I don't think this CB experiment will work. Didn't he only play CB for us in practice?

    #15 Jersey

It should be alot warmer in Tampa for Geno, because at CB he's going to get burned quite frequently.

Time to change that Madden lineup.

So far Tank Williams for Geno, and Jason Webster and Lewis Sanders for Asante Samuel and Randall Gay. :(

I wonder why we didn't go after some more established CBs. Andre Dyson and Fernando Bryant are still out there, but I guess they might be a bit more expensive.

Hope he works harder for the Bucs than he worked for the Pats. He was one lazy mopho. I don't think he'll make it.

    #75 Jersey

Wrong. CB is Geno's position. He took one for the team in 2003 by moving to Safety the week before the season. People like Liveshot (see above) have very short memories (That is IF they were around as fans in 2003 ;) )

I've always wondered why BB never moved him back to CB last year or the year before as James Sanders was emerging.

Great pickup by the Bucs. I predict Eugene Wilson will be a very sought after CB FA after this coming year.

Don't you think this might say something about Geno's ability to play corner?

BTW, the way this offseason has been going, come 2009 I fully expect Wilson to sign with Detroit, the Land of Misfit Bucs.

On NFLN they are saying 1 year $1.8M.

Since we knew he was gone, I was hoping he'd get a bigger contract. With Wilson only getting 1.8 million for 1 year, he won't be worth much when the compensation picks for this offseason are announced for the 2009 draft.

    Umm. . . . the Pats have the potential to get as much as a 3, a 4, a 5, and a 7. Don't complain. :)

Wilson can easily be replaced. He is a decent player, but nothing special. The only problem is, the defensive losses are starting to add up.

    Disable Jersey

How so? Wilson and Gay have already been 'replaced' with bodies (I can't vouch for the talent until I see it in the system), Bruschi is coming back, and the final chapter has yet to be written about Seau. The only loss I see needing replacement, so far, is Samuel.

I'm with you. The only guy who really legitimately needs replacing is Samuel.

(And I suppose Colvin/Seau depending on where you think Thomas plays)

As a Bills fan who saw Jason Webster up close in TC last summer, he is garbage. Maybe in BB's system he will do better, but in DJ's cover 2 he was burned constantly by Roscoe Parrish and Josh Reed. My memory of pre season is a little foggy, but I do remember clearly thinking I wanted Greer instead of Webster. He just looks confused out there.

Good for Geno. Honestly, I wanted the Pats to resign him to a small contract to mainly be a backup. He is familiar with our system and can play some CB as well as FS. But, I know it's a business, and the Geno probably wanted to go somewhere where he'd get more playing time. Understandable. Hope he has a good year in Tampa. I'll always have some good memories of Geno and those viscous hits he delivered, especially the one to Reggie Wayne.

    No Jersey Selected

That Reggie Wayne hit was spectacular, and his play in 2003 and 2004 was great. It's too bad he fell so far, so fast, but I wish him luck.

What a makeover for the secondary, eh?

That kinda stinks, I like Geno and wish him the best. Those injuries really hurt him and his future with this team.

He could wind up being very good for them next year. He played Cover 2 a lot at Illinois, and since the thinking is he fell out of favor here because injuries limited his ability in the centerfield of the Cover 3, the Cover 2 flat should limit his liabilities. He's still a very phsyical corner. Good signing for the Bucs.

Yes that hit was awe inspiring. Now that he's gone maybe it's time to change my avatar.
