Re: Blog: Pats re-sign Williams

Why? Are we suddenly in need of defensive backs?

Re: Blog: Pats re-sign Williams

Gives a little insight in regards to the pats thoughts in the defensive backfield-perhaps?

Re: Blog: Pats re-sign Williams

Mitchell is gone. Jones is out. We need a practice player.

Training camp fodder?

Re: Blog: Pats re-sign Williams

The 5-foot-8-inch, 185-pound defender recorded 39 passes defensed during his collegiate career

A little light for ILB, but I'll give him a try.:D

Pats1 can correct me, but I believe this fills our Training Camp complement once again.

We had folks expecting a veteran LB, or another WR, instead they bring back a young kid they worked with during the spring and give him some more time in the system. He was probably cut to give the team room for someone else on the roster for the balance they needed to start camp. He may be a good candidate for NFLE, or they may want to see him in a special teams environment. Camp fodder only in the sense that his chances right now are low, but he intrigues them enough to get more work when they can afford to provide him the training time. Good luck kid.:rocker:

No, he's too short for a NT.

Re: Blog: Pats re-sign Williams

The team has just announced that they have re-signed rookie DB Gemara Williams
After the fight he put up against Godzilla, I'm willing to give him a try ...

I'll check on that. There's either 0 or 1 spots left.

Re: Blog: Pats re-sign Williams

The Pats have 1 spot remaining.

93 total players

-2 IR

-1 DNR

-1 LS

-9 NFLE

-1 Bonus

Pats re-sign Williams..Interesting..

It looks like this might have to do with Tebucky being injured...What I find interesting is that they resigned him and not any of the safeties they cut..Sam Smith, Keon Jackson or Jarvis Herring. Maybe none of the 3 got it..while Germera was just a numbers situation.

Patriots Re-Sign Rookie DB Gemara Williams New England Patriots

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots re-signed rookie defensive back Gemara Williams today.
Williams, 23, was signed by the Patriots on May 8, 2006 as a non-drafted rookie free agent from the University of Buffalo, but was waived prior to the start of training camp on July 25. The 5-foot-8-inch, 185-pound defender recorded 39 passes defensed during his collegiate career, the most in school history. Last season, he finished the year with 61 tackles and 14 passes defensed, including one interception. He started his career at safety, but made the transition to cornerback during his junior year."

Might this have something to do with a negative prognosis for Tebucky?
