Why San Jose State?

"It was my only offer -- and I loved every minute of it," Jarron said. "I was an offensive tackle in high school and weighed about 235. So nobody wanted me as an offensive tackle. San Jose was the only school that wanted me, and they took me as a tight end. After watching me play, they moved me to defensive line. The rest is history."

Gilbert became a three-year starter, captain, team MVP and All-WAC selection at defensive tackle. Now 6-5, 288, Gilbert led the NCAA in tackles for loss last season with 22.

Since we're talking about 3-4 DE's, here's a nice article on Ndamukong Suh from Nebraska:

Pelini says Nebraska DT Suh not close to potential - Ap-state-ne - The Columbus Telegram - Columbus, Nebraska's Community Newspaper

Suh, like Brandon Spikes at ILB from Florida, very nearly came out and would have been a prime target for the Pats at #23 had he declared. With #23 and #34 we might conceivable have been able to get both. We could have been debating their merits the past 3 months instead of Barwin, Matthews and Gilbert. Both will probably go top 15 next year and be out of reach. Too bad.
