One of the things that I have wondered is what the rules teams have to follow for the individual workouts of draft prospects? The reason I ask is because of the issues the Pats have had trying to find WRs to click with Brady.

Like, at these workouts, who is throwing the ball to receivers? Coaches?

I think back to 2006 and the article where Brady basically had to show Caldwell exactly how he expected the routes to be run..

Personally, I'd love for the pats to make Brady a "Player/Coach" so that he could be involved in that process and we could finally get him a young receiver that he could work with..

I'm not sure about how it worked in previous years, but if I recall correctly with the new CBA players under contract are not allowed to work out directly with their team until April 16. So that means that unfortunately the scenario that you presented - which would make a whole of sense to implement - cannot happen with either a veteran until free agency is a month old, or with a potential draftee until ten days before the draft takes place.

I suppose a quarterback could work out with a soon-to-be free agent on his own, but that would probably be getting into a gray area in regards to tampering if done prior to March 13.

There's probably no great significance in this, but Ryan Mallett threw passes today at the Arkansas pro day. Still, can probably provide some scouting feedback on Wright, Adams and Childs to his team.

Player-Coaches are illegal these days, I believe. Something related to salary-cap circumvention. In theory, the Patriots could pay Brady the vet minimum as quarterback, and 20 million a year as assistant head coach or scout.
