The NY Media is hyping up Eli to a ridiculous extent.

He has had 4 good games in a row...does this mean he is now all of a sudden a top tier quarterback??

    Let's compare EM's season to TB's

    EM- 56.1% completions, 3330 yards, 23 TD/20Int 73.9 QB rating

    TB- 68.9%, 4806, 50/8, 117.2 rating

meh. Brady to this day still gets labeled as just a "system qb" by rival fans. Eli has a long way to go till he "earned" it.

The Giants coaches finally got it through their cast iron heads that Eli has the football IQ of a summer squash, so they dumbed down the offense to the point where he finally "gets it", doesn't make boneheaded mistakes and did just enough to beat the power house Bucs, the overated Cowboys and Lord "I'm a moron and I still think I'm a gunslinger and can throw the ball through a brick wall" Favre and a trip to the Super Bowl.

The question now is whether this continues on footballs biggest stage or if he sh!ts his pants and goes back to the old Eli. We'll know in two weeks......................

hahahaha. Would that be "baby squash" ?

The same Giants numnuts were ready to hang him in mid December.

I sense a Tony Eason SB experience for Eli

Give the guy credit-with all the storm he had to go through with the HUGE NY media AND the impatient fans there(Heck-they even boo Derek Jeter there too), he's really done an outstanding job weathering it and having a thick skin. He's really hung in there, and reaping the rewards.

If McFlabb were in that same situation, he would have melted down a LONG time ago.

And besides, the Giants have won TEN straight road games, including winning in TX Stadium, FedEx Field, The Linc, Lambeau, Soldier Field, ALL of which are extremely tough places to play.

He didnt discredit Eli, actually. He merely listed Eli's stats.

You are the one discrediting Eli by saying his stats are so bad that just listing them is insulting to Eli. :bricks:

Have you forgotten that this putz refused to be drafted by SD......and his daddy demanded a "trade" to NY.......Gomer is getting exactly what he deserves......

Yes, he will discredit Manning. It's an art form around here.

Having said that I'll back him up on content because I don't think a few games defines any QB. Consistency has to be developed over a longer period of time.

Giants fans hope that the turn-about means one thing, while Pats fans hope it means another. Giants fans hope it means that he's "come of age" and has "turned the corner" and is now engaged in becoming a folk hero and proving that he's actually a great QB. Pats fans hope he just hit a lucky streak, and like Rex Grossman, is about to fall off in a big hurry.

And you know what? Nobody knows what Eli Manning is going to do next. That's because he hasn't built consistency yet. But he could come out smoking, and he could throw a few wounded ducks, depending on the Good Rex Bad Rex syndrome.

Brady isn't likely to throw anything but strikes.

I don't think it's a good idea to knock down Manning in any way except to point out that he's never been consistent. He played great up in GB and I think guys here should acknowledge that and just let it be what it is. He played great. But that's the past. It's over. The big question in my mind is if he can continue. I won't be shocked if he does, but I can't honestly say that it will shock me to see him bomb either. That is Eli's special case - a big question mark.

Hmmm, I suppose it's possible. As I remember it Eason just froze when he stared down that defense. Or was the staring-down going the other way?

I'm not sure Manning will have to endure that because the Pats' defense has not really stoned anybody from moving the ball between the twenties. If you can move the ball, you are controlling clock, finding rhythm, and having success. That wouldn't be Tony Eason.

I expect that the Giants will have a better running game than the Pats had too. Brandon Jacobs can bring it and that could help Manning a lot.

The Pats just don't have the defense that the Bears had. They cannot confound or intimidate Eli, IMO, only limit him at times. In the end I think they limit him just enough to walk away with another trophy, but I don't see it as being a blowout and I don't sense that Eli is going to collapse.

After saying that I do realize that Bill Belichick is involved in scheming the defense for that game. I do respect what he can do, and has done. But the defense has never really shut anybody down in a SB. Sorta like the Giants and Bills - very close, but no cigar to the non-Belichick team.

Hey, we are experts at discrediting Manning's achievements. And Eli makes it easier to do that then Peyton. :)

It's hard to feel much compassion for the guy for going through these travails.

After all, he asked to go there, and subsequently had Daddy engineer things so he could end up there.

He's had a good streak, yeah, and I grant him that which he has attained, but it's a bit early yet to prepare a bust at Canton for him....
