2024 Defensive Backs

To my untrained eye, it appears we like to go into game week with 5 CBS and 4 S.

Under Contract for 2024:
CB: Gonzalez, Jo. Jones, M. Jones, Wade and M. Wilson

S: Peppers and Phillips

Cornerback:
Cannot believe I’m saying this, but I’d like to bring back Myles Bryant. Thought he was pretty solid and versatile this year. Also liked what I saw from Alex Austin.
Gonzalez, the two Jones, Bryant and then let Austin, Wilson and Wade battle for the 5th spot.

Safety:
Need Dugger back and then find a Mills replacement.

I’m hoping Bolden ends up recovering and playing with the talent he showed before his injury. Pretty sure he’s still on contract.

CORNERBACK
Austin is an ERFA and will certainly be back. Bolden will be back.
Bryant can probably be signed for short money, and cut if he is beaten out.

SAFETY
Peppers, Phillps and Bledsoe will be back.

For me, Mills is a priority as a backup safety and backup corner. He shouldn't cost a lot to re-sign.

However, we do need a true free safety. I would expect this to be a high free agent priority.

Good to hear on Austin. Missed Bolden on the salary cap page. Could probably keep 6 going into the season as well. Pretty decent bottom of the roster depth.
