- Incredible game for the secondary. Butler was flat-out perfect, and Ryan honestly did a great job sticking with Hopkins, who just turned on the super-human jets on occasion.
- Given BB's love of special teams, he had to love this game. Ryan Allen, of course, but also the precision short corner kickoffs with excellent coverage, and two great forced fumbles by two great ST specialists.
- A defensive shutout without Hightower, the QB of the defense. Amazing.
- Just nine months ago, Joe Thuney was Jacoby Brissett's left tackle for the NC Wolfpack -- one of the guys Jacoby was baking cookies for. Last night after Blount's big TD run the camera caught Thuney and Brissett celebrating ecstatically together. Living the dream, eh?
- Speaking of rookies, how great was it to watch Thuney blocking for Brissett as he completed a pass to Malcolm Mitchell who broke multiple tackles? Some very nice plays by big #99 Valentine, too. The class of 2016 class is showing up early.
- Have you ever, EVER seen a team suit up just one QB? Phil Simms said he couldn't remember it.
- So now we know that we have an opening day starting QB who looks like a bona fide starter, with a lightning-quick release, impressive accuracy, and nice mobility in the pocket. And a rookie backup QB who looks very much like a rookie -- but the kind of rookie with poise, confidence, a strong arm and ideal NFL frame who other teams would be happy to build around. And then there's the 3rd-stringer, a 39-year-old vet who's been out of football for a bit but would love to get back on the field.
