    #54 Jersey

Might as well get it started...

My first pick is a late round find, diamond in the rough, small school gem, etc.

Bruce Miller, University of Central Florida
    6'2 - 248

2 time defensive player of the year in Conference USA
    30+ career sacks

UCF's Bruce Miller Could Be the Next Knight to Shine in the NFL | Bleacher Report

He had a great game against Georgia in their bowl game, seems like a player who could carve out a niche on special teams and eventually turn into a pretty good backup or situational pass rusher. A poor man's Tedy Bruschi.

So far, JJ Watt, though I have my doubts that he'll declare.

Also, Richard Sherman, CB, Stanford. Converted WR, 6'3"/192.

6 INT, 17 PD, 111 tackles, 2 FF and a blocked FG over the past two seasons. Doesn't appear to get thrown at a lot. Very bright guy/team player in interviews.

Probably won't have quite the long speed to be viable as a CB in the NFL, but might be viable converting to FS (deep cover guy). Probable UDFA.

Not a binkie, but does anybody have any observations about RB Alex Green out of Hawaii?

    6'2"/230. 1199 yds/18 TDs on 146 carries (8.2 ypa) + 363 yds/1 TS on 27 rec

    Notable games:
    107 yds/1 TD on 10 carries @Boise St.
    96 yds/3 TDs on 13 carries @ Fresno St. (+ 3 rec/69 yds)
    172 yds/4 TDs on 14 carries @ Utah St.
    136 yds/1 TD on 15 carries v UNLV
    327 yds/3 TDs on 19 carries @New Mexico St.

Not great competition, I know, but I was thinking that's not awful for an RB on a team that's somewhat pass-oriented. Somewhat.

I'd love to see us get Mark Ingram. I believe that he will be a great player and can make an imminent contribution to a team. The man has everything you need for a good RB; speed, toughness, power, and winning intangibles.

This is a BPA pick, but I'd love to get Ras-I Dowling. He's a CB/S tweener who's going to fall in the draft because of his long speed. He's a great tackler, and a hard hitter with great ball skills who plays great in space. He also sounds like a Patriot to me. Team captain who stayed for his senior year to finish his degree, high-intangible guy from a Naval family.

Trade Meriweather for a 3rd to the Jags, and groom Dowling behind Sanders to be his replacement. His corner skills mean he can be used in the Charles Woodson role, as a CB/S hybrid. His ball skills and game awareness are exactly what you want in a center fielder-type safety.

Reminds me a lot of Malcolm Jenkins in NO. Drafted at CB but is really more of a hybrid player.

    No Jersey Selected

Seems like, as the Raiders pick has dropped, so has Ingram's place in a lot of mock drafts. I keep seeing him at 15 to 24 these days.

I am not here to bash on anyone's binky, but I just moved away from Iowa City and have seen every game of his the last 2 years. I liked him last year, but not for the PAtriots system, and this year, he did absolutely nothing all year.

I am just wondering what you saw that makes you so high on this guy when he did nothing on the field to warrant such high praise. By the end of the year, he was not even getting extra help and still did not put up even pedestrian type numbers.

I want to be realistic, we have no shot at Fairly or Darous so i'm going with Watt 1A, Kerrigan 2A, and Wisknewski 1B I was thinking of Aldon Smith instead of Kerrigan but i've never seen him do much when ive gotten a chance to watch him.

Karl Klug is my early draft process binky, I just don't know where NE might play him until I see how he does at the Combine/Pro-Day. Do you know if any of the All-Star games have offered him a shot?

I haven't watched Greg McElroy a lot, but there are shades of Tom Brady there. Not very mobile, not a strong arm, benefits from playing on a great team. But he's shown a lot of intelligence, good decisions, excellent accuracy, does well in the short/intermediate passing game, and seems to have a ton of intangibles. Last year's championship game was pretty ugly, but he's played well even in Alabama's losses this year, and had a nice bowl game too.

Probably not a fit for every team, but I could see our offense being perfect for him. I know QB isn't a major need, but I wouldn't mind spending a 6th rounder on him...

I haven't seen enough to find someone I really like, but I have seen enough to know who is either highly overrated or doesn't fit the scheme.

The highly overrated category is littered with the 34 DE's, or as people who like jargon but don't understand 2-gap call them; 5-techniques. The only one I'm sold on is Fairley. I guess I'm sold on him enough to justify a 10 spot tradeup even though I know it will never happen.

This is going to be a draft where the talent doesn't matchup with the need, at least in the first. There's only two dudes in the first that I think make sense for the scheme and that's Fairley and Quinn. Fairley will be gone too soon and Quinn has cautionary tale written all over him. Interesting in reading this discussion, but am staying away until I know enough to form an opinion.

Owen Marecic FB - Hopefully he'll be Peyton Hillis 2.0

Bilal Powell RB - the guy does a pretty damn good impression of DeMarco Murray, he seems under the radar, hopefully he'll stay that way.

Zane Taylor C - "Undersized" Center who is strong as a bull, smart, and a leader. He might be underrated because of his size by people who don't understand physics but let their loss be our gain.

Randall "Tex" Cobb WR - the guy just screams Troy Brown reincarnated.

Andy Dalton QB - he takes being a "Ginger" to a new level

Andrew Jackson OG - has anyone ever had a name this cool?

After watching the first half of the Rose Bowl, I'm going to start walking back my JJ Watt binkie nomination. On the other side of the ball, though, Carimi and Moffitt really look like they know what they're doing - at least when the sideline doesn't call in stupid or poorly designed plays.

Wondering why I haven't heard more about Nick Toon - 6'3"/212 (JR).

Needs to run his routes more crisply to get better separation. Willing blocker downfield, but needs to work on timing/technique. Fearless, great ball skills/body control/leaping ability. Projected 40 = 4.54 (same as Brandon Marshall ran at his Combine).

I'm totally binky-free at this point, but I tend to agree that Watt will climb and end up a reasonable 1A choice.

I like Wisniewski a lot, but his value is much higher as a C than OG, and it scares me that shotgun snapping is his achilles heel. Koppen is such a flawless snapper that we tend to forget that whole aspect of the shotgun.

Also, I really want to see Kerrigan's drills at the combine. His positives are impressive -- the strength, the awareness, and those amazingly violent hands that make it look like he's taking an axe to the OT's arms. But watching him bull forward from a 3-pt stance again and again, it's tough to picture him as a linebacker.
