Celtics have had a couple steals trading down...
McHale and Parish for Joe Barely Cares...
40 years ago, the Celtics pulled off a trade that cemented a championship foundation
As a Patriots fan living in Cleveland, I have been to about 15 Pats vs Bills games there. I love it. Luxury boxes don't take up crazy amount of space, so upper deck seats are way better than at Gillette. It's just a good basic place to see a football game.
Sorting out the economic gains isn't...
I live in Cleveland, so I go see the Patriots in Buffalo most years. It was a great bargain when the Bills were struggling, especially if the game was late in the season and the Bills were something like 4-9 and fans had given up. I'm not sure what the prices will look like this year, now that...
So, it would probably be really safe to push a lot of money into next year for someone else, knowing it won't be a huge burden then because the team will have a big credit. It would essentially be a short-term cap loan, knowing the return is coming. Do I have that right?
I am a rare poster here, but a daily lurker, and the Idle Thoughts posts are something I look forward to every week. I have been a fan since your usenet days and I have learned so much from your posts. Thank you.
Please don't be too discouraged. I am mostly a lurker, but a constant one who looks for your posts after every game. I have been following them since usenet days and appreciate all the perspective you add.
The first three Super Bowls had Brady on the cheap...$3.3M in 2003 and $5M in 2004.
Once he was being paid at all like his performance warranted, the cap hit limited depth.
Luck played a big role too, but it's hard to win when you pay a QB a giant chunk of your cap.
I run a fan club for fans in Cleveland of all the Boston teams.
We are not sure about any tailgates yet, but we have someone planning a Saturday night gathering and folks are going to the Football Hall of Fame Saturday afternoon, which is just an hour south of the city.
We'll also probably...
I was at the stadium too and did not notice anything that seemed out-of-bounds with stadium sounds.
Maybe something happened, but the majority of the noise was legit fan-generated ruckus. Those metal seats make lots of noise when fans bang on them.
Wasn't the SpyGate penalty as much for disobeying a league order as for the cameras?
The penalty was a 1st or the 2nd and 3rd if the pats didn't make the playoffs. Since the Jets violated the earlier order/warning, that's the biggest violation. Precedent says they lose their 2nd and 3rd.
I have to think that Floyd Reese coming into the front office in early 2009 helped with player evaluation. He had a great track record with the Titans.
Or is there a bigger factor?
I was at the game, so I didn't see any replays of the first interception. But wasn't it a week ago that we were all berating McCourty for never looking back for the ball? Weren't we all whining that McCourty has lost his confidence and his ball skills? Weren't we complaining that Flacco could...
