So if we're to take that at face value, then let's all criticize Belichick. That is a terrible coaching decision. It's also extremely dense and stubborn to not adjust once Nick Foles puts up 450 yards of offense in 3 quarters. That's one of the worst strategic coaching decisions I've ever seen...
I don't understand why some are defending Belichick. He either made the decision for two reasons:
Butler pissed him off, either showing up late because of the flu, cussing him out, whatever.
Belichick actually believed the corner who played 98% of the snaps wasn't good enough or the right...
Nope. What about 3rd and 8 plays? 2 and 12 plays on the final drive? All of those obvious passing situations are textbook dime defense packages, ones in which you dare the offense to run.
Has anyone else thought of Brady's legacy being cemented by this game?
if he loses and goes 3-2 in SB's, losing to the same QB twice, he will go down as a top 5 QB. But Eli will 'have his number', which will taint his legacy relevant to a top 5 player of all time. IF he wins this game, gets...
Couldn't Anderson be starting, or at least playing the majority of the game at DE against passing teams without a strong running game? I think that's how he'll be used if he's as good a player as he played Thursday.
I think those of you saying Moss can't play anymore are wrong. Remember what Revis said after the trade? He was shocked and praised moss' abilities. I agree with the trade because Moss had a bloated ego for someone who wasn't as good as he once was. But with that said, if he comes back humbled...
This article IS biased for many reasons, including the difference in games started by the two QBs. But Ben has had Ward, Plaxico, Mike Wallace and a great running game his entire career. Brady had troy brown and deion branch for a few of those first 6 years as a starter, but he only had one good...
That's not true. I just watched it after i read your post. Chung did get beat a little on a 7 yard out but he was still kinda with Nelson. But McCourty actually got beat worse than Chung did. So Merriweather should have not only been naturally defending the deep pass (mccourty's guy - James...
What makes Woodhouse's numbers even better for this team is the level of consistency he has accomplished. Bush, Leon washington, and Sproles all have those averages inflated because of the few number of carries in comparison to the high number of big plays they have. So those other explosive...
The pats D is average (and not really awful) partly because the offense is so good. BB traded moss because he knew the defense needed our offense to be efficient and safe, not explosive and turnover-prone. It works for this team...hopefully next year our D will be self sufficient
cassell took a 16-0 team and led them to 11-5. If the pats had been a 12-4 team in 07, then I don't think we would have gotten past 8-8 with Cassell the following year. He was given such a good team and lost 5 more games than brady did. It's all relative - Keyshawn doesn't understand that.
Maybe i'm missing something, but how is that statement true? Moss had the 35 yard TD catch vs the jets, the ball was in the air for about 45 yards on that pass.
And I think the original point is that we don't try to throw it deep anymore...not even try. And of those 20 attempts by brady, how...
The first thing i thought of when I read that is the 2001 game vs the Colts in Indy when Patten caught a 70 yard bomb, ran a 50yrd reverse for a TD and threw a 70 yard bomb to troy brown....So yeah, you're right
I also only see BB accepting randy back on the team if he believes Randy has genuinely and legitimately changed his ways. It is very possible that Randy is regretful enough that he will accept a lesser role and be a good teammate. I am one who thinks BB made the right decision in trading him...
I disagree with that last sentence. It is clear that randy can only be on a winning team with good leadership. Additionally, he will get fed up with a poor qb. Finally, he will need a few weeks to get up-to-speed with a new offense. And obviously he has praised BB and the patriots in recent...
Re: Verbatim: Randy Moss
I honestly think he would accept a 1mil per year salary from NE and turn down a 7mil per year salary from any other NFL team...hell i think he'd approach the Patriots with that idea.
Anyone notice how he said "the guys" and "this team" without prefacing it with...
Re: Verbatim: Randy Moss
I disagree. I think there is a chance that he has actually learned from this experience and grown. I think he appreciates NE more than he ever realized he did or would. If he was given the opportunity to come back, then he would do everything it takes to fit in...
Re: Verbatim: Randy Moss
It would make a statement if he returned on a vet minimum. Or something very low like that. Obviously he's worth more than that.
Re: Verbatim: Randy Moss
Well I think BB approached him for a contract extension this pre-season, but be didn't want it. I just think he is an emotional man (perhaps unstable) who really doesn't know what he wants, but he has realized since leaving the high level of football played in NE...
