The reason the Colts and Chargers are so successful is because of veteran players their drafts earlier in the decade, just like the Patriots. Since 06 none of the Chargers' first round picks have done jack for their team, unless you count Cromartie's one good half-season three years ago. Their...
Polian hasn't been able to fix the Colts' problems at DT and the interior oline for years. He's either ignored the problems outright or drafted busts like Ugoh and Pollak. Look at the 09 draft for example. It was well known that the Colts oline couldn't run-block to save their lives, so...
Also, while Spikes' 40 time was terribad he actually had a good 3 cone drill. And that test tells a lot more about a player's athletic ability on the field.
I liked the draft a lot but I would have rather gotten another pass rusher instead of Hernandez. I think he'll be a good player but we already drafted Gronk and I felt that someone like O'brien Schofield or Thaddeus Gibson would have been a good prospect to develop.
Regarding Cunningham, the Jets were one of several teams who checked him out and seemed interested him
Numerous Teams Anxious To Workout Florida DE Jermaine Cunningham
I thought he was a great pick. I was getting nervous during the 2nd round when the run on LBs started and was thrilled when we got him. He has the leadeship skills and production that you want in a LB and can bring that nasty edge to the defense that we've been looking for for years...
He got into an argument and threw a sandwich at someone. Dunlap got arrested for DUI the week of the biggest game of his career. Could you imagine McGinest or Vrabel getting arrested for DUI the week leading up the SB?
This wasn't a highlights video, it was just showing all of his snaps for that particular game. Videos like this are a dime a dozen on youtube.
The guy has 2 fewer career sacks than Dunlap and doesn't come with the questions about work ethics or character concerns. Every mock draft had him...
Re: Osi Umenyiora can be had for a Mid Round Pick
I always felt that he was somewhat overrated and benefited from having Strahan opposite of him. He had 2 big seasons in 2005 and 2007, but 6 of his 13 sacks from 07 came in one game against a rookie tackle. I don't know if he could transistion...
He seems to have a very mature attitude towards not being able to play due to injuries. I'm impressed that he's been able to stay focused after all that's happened and I like to think he'll carry that focus onto the field.
