I looked on my Pats calendar trivia question for this month and it asked "What is Junior Seau's given first name?" I'm going to be completely honest and admit that I had no idea and found it interesting when I saw the answer. I feel a little embarassed because I'm a huge Pats fan, yet I did not know Jr's name is actually Tiaina Baul Seau, Jr. Once again, for those of you who already knew that, my apologies. I just feel like I missed something. Maybe that's what happens when you live on the other side of the country I guess.

P.S. Sorry I spelled tidbit wrong in the title

we'll try not to hold it against you. ;) actually, I didnt know that either. Now if only this thread was about whether or not he's coming back, which is what I thought it was about. Interesting tidbit though.

Re: Interesting Junior Seau tidbid

I don't think many people knew that, man.

Re: Interesting Junior Seau tidbid

But do you know what Tom Brady's real name is?

Well, not everyone. ;)

Next question:

What is Freddie Keiaho's real name?

pats1 will have to convene a council of the elders to decide your punishment.

What's one minute in the number of days we've wasted on this forum? :)

Re: Interesting Junior Seau tidbid

Seau is a liability for the Patriots. His experience means that he will start and play, but his abilities are equal with many rookies at this point. So, you end up letting a senior play when you've got a freshman who is just as good, but doesn't graduate after the season.

It's hard to let go of old dogs, but if Seau starts for 8 games, then gets injured and is out for the rest of the season, you really missed out by not getting one of the new guys in there for some experience.

JMHO.

I don't care what his first name is.

It can go both ways:

If Seau is not there as a part-time player, the new guys might develop more slowly since he can teach them things. Then if some new guys get injured 8 games into the season we would be wishing Junior were available.

I'd agree that Junior and Tedy each playing even 50% of the snaps for the season isn't a good idea. But I think that our coaches know that and so do Junior and Tedy.

Re: Interesting Junior Seau tidbid

We feel the same way about Marvin Harrison. Same deal with Saturday - hell you got 3 rookies who can play his position. Go tell Dungy and Polian it's more important to get them reps.

HUGE difference here.
Marvin and Saturday not playing could be the difference between getting a 1st round bye and barely making the playoffs.

Seau not playing would not change the Patriots W/L column one iota.

Probably should have started a new thread, but it sounds like you are trying to justify the Colts starting a bunch of rookies the past few years.

BB is giving the rookies a chance. That's why Seau is not signed. If he doesn't like what he sees in the new blood he can make another run for Seau. That was the plan all along.

I actually wasn't trying to bring the Colts into this at all. I see your point, but that was not my intent.

I'm pointing the finger specifically at Seau because I think linebackers for the Patriots are very interchangeable, replaceable, and should come and go on a "revolving door" basis. Seau is the oldest and the most "deteriorating" of the Pat's linebackers, and Mayo or Crable should be able to play that position better than Seau without getting hurt and while gaining valuable experience.

Tedy is a little different, as is Vrable. You can't keep those guys off the field.

The case is actually exactly the opposite. It is very difficult to find and train replacements.

Seau was much more effective last year than Tedy was, believe it or not.
