You're making assumptions. How do you know that after the 1st Field Goal, Manning and Co don't make plays and run out the clock on the Pats? Once that decision is made, everything else about the game changes..

Right, Peyton could have thrown an INT for a TD if they began running more passing plays.

I don't think they would have beaten the NFC champion anyways so maybe this is less sad for us all. Go Panthers.

It's fair for us to just admit it it at this point. We owned the Steelers in the Playoffs in their house. Brady is owned there and it sucks our coaches did not have the fore site. Depressing..
That's why you don't ****yfoot games like in Miami.

People said the same today about the pats today. Denver defense is going to be a load for Car.

He's mobile, seriously mobile. He's going to be a load for them, if the Panthers win.

Was LaFail even in the game today? What a disaster of a season he had.

Even Simms made a point of mentioning that Brady said he "trusted all the receivers that were playing". Ergo...Jojo is done in NE. Even when he was out there, he wasn't, y'know? All the deep sidelines were to ****in James White. Some of those used to go to Vereen (though sometimes out of wheel from backfield) but Lafell used to be that target too. This week they didn't even try that ****ty screen pass to him.

For some reason I dont even care that we lost. Maybe I had already come to the terms with the fact that likely going to happen. With all the injuries we've had this season it was fortunate we even made it this far. We're still champions for 2 weeks. And here's to coming back stronger next year and getting back to the top.

I have full faith that Denver will be thoroughly embarrassed in the SB again so at least I have that to look forward to.

I hear fans complaining about the Pats not kicking the 2 FGs, but there is a reason for that. They [The NYFL*, Kraft included] wanted the game to end dramatically. It's Brady vs Manning. It's the championship game, the last go 'round, between these two. It's Manning on the sideline praying that Brady can't get it done. It's Brady falling from cloud nine and getting back up, again (next season). They are going to make movies out of this rival in the future. This is the NFL. It's not real. It's entertainment. I love Tom Brady, just like I love Jon Snow on Game of Thrones, I was sick for days after his own men stabbed him to death (until I realized he might not be dead after all). I root for these guys, they are heroes, underdogs, rejects, who will soon become kings and idolized by millions, or something along those lines, like the speech Superman's real daddy gave him on the Man of Steel trailers. No matter how fictional their stories are, it gives people, like us, hope.

Am I pissed off about Brady not getting another ring this year? Yes.

But can we all finally admit the Pats and Bengals, both purposely chose to hand the AFC championship to Denver, and that the games are fixed, for entertainment purposes?

I already knew Brady would lose, but it hurt to watch him suffer and lose like that, to some HGH taking, overrated old scrub, who will NEVER live up to his hype, because I wanted him to win so badly. I won't be watching the SB, this year, like I didn't watch Manning vs the Seahawks, because I don't care for the outcome, though I already know the outcome for this one. I do hope Kuechly have a good game, however, if he makes it. The Cards/Panthers game is more intriguing because the NFL likely doesn't care who wins it, as long as they keep it close for ratings sake, both teams would make a compelling story against Manning's team. I'm just certain, Manning is retiring with a ring.

Enjoy the game, everyone!
Can we stop with the tinfoil ******** (or whatever poor attempt at Marx you're trying here)? Their offense got trounced by a better defense, end of story. Embarrassing that this **** is in the public for some anti-Pat drone to pass around the internet at our expense. Stop.

I fully understand I lack any realistic perspective on this, being that we won it all last year, and 4 times over this run, so let me just say that I love this team and the following is just the spoiled, ungrateful fan in me, and I deserve all the dislikes I get for this post... But damn I'm pissed off right now. I can accept losing, but not when it's the same exact sh*t year after year.

We obliterate teams for 16 weeks, with an offense that sets records, then we face a good defense in the playoffs and get embarrassed. The o-line plays historically bad. The receivers can't get an inch of separation. The running game is a total non factor. Brady throws multiple ******ed picks.

Seriously, they haven't figured this sh*t out by now? It's the same blueprint. Why can't they adjust to block a 3 or 4 man rush? Why can't they adapt to go over the top when defenses flood the short zones? We're like the football version of Mike Tyson. We look spectacular when you trot out the journeyman opponents, but get bullied when we face legit competition who can't be easily KO'd with wild uppercuts.

I'm not saying we should have put up 30 on Denver or those Giants/Ravens/Jets teams of the past. Great defenses make it tough, I get that. The point is that we always under perform against them compared to a lot of other teams. These teams all put up more points vs Denver this year than we did today: KC (twice), MIN, CLE, IND, a less healthy version of us, PIT, SD. The year we lost to the Jets, we had just destroyed them a few weeks before. In '07 we put up 38 against the Giants in the last game of the regular season.

Seriously, what the hell happens to this team?

They used the same offense against Seattle last year.

just watched the 2 point conversion again Gronk was freaking wide open running right same as Brady.. Brady had him easy. Unfortunately Brady was locked in on Edleman back across the grain

Our O-Line played like crap and in turn had Brady way off his game. Cannon got beat repeatedly like a rented mule. Throw in some questionable coaching to it. The missed XP was huge IMHO. But at the end of it all we would never have been in Denver had we not screwed the pooch the last 2 games of the regular season.

The upside to losing is we don't have to watch Brady get killed on live TV in 2 weeks time.

That OL against either NFC defense? No thank you.

Welp, I had to look at a car and then a couple of my mutts got out and after chasing and working, I prolly didn't get to watch 30 minutes of the game. Not real disappointed now either.
I tuned in just in time to see Brady's last TD on 4th down and the ensuing missed 2pt conv.
Other than the last time the Pats played them, I haven't seen a Broncos game all year. I knew their D line was good, but I didn't give enough credit to pass coverage. Looking at Brady's numbers apparently it was pretty good. As I suspected, under 20 for the Pats is a losing score.
Who knows? Maybe that D can gift a super bowl for Manning as a parting gift after all.
Very obviously, Brady isn't a cheater. If he was, he'd be blood doping to offset that thin air he always has trouble with.
Pats really need a deep threat, but it wouldn't have helped, no more time than Brady was getting.
Oh well, on to next season!

Granted easy to see it from up here, but Brady was staring down guys all night when the pressure got tough. Just ugly.

So I assume this has been pointed out, but I'm not reading the whole thread and the irony here is just killing me. The Pats lost on a missed extra point, essentially (you don't lose on one play, yeah yeah etc.). It's not a gimme play any more because Belichick has been agitating for years to make it more interesting and less automatic.

Well, guess that worked.

Bleh.

The Patriots' Offense towards the end of the year were like a jalopy, parts were dropping off of the car and it was being held together with duct tape and bailing wire. The two weeks were clearly not enough to get healthy and their margin of error as a result was down to zero. They then made the mistakes that pushed it over the line.

The game was lost on the OL, specifically on Stork, Kline and Cannon. But the coaches didn't do anything to put them in a position to succeed. No adjusting of the snap count, no "no huddle" offense, no TEs chipping DEs before going out on patterns, no extra blocking when it was clear they were being overwhelmed. I've never seen a DL get such consistent pressure on the QB even when rushing three players. We were out of bullets. Next year our rotation should be Andrews at Center, Stork/Jackson/Mason rotating at guard and Vollmer/Solder outside. We're stuck with Cannon who got extended. Dola, Jules and Gronk were also clearly hurting and limited but they played their hearts out. I don't care to see LaFell in a Patriot uniform again. I guess that makes a Tackle, another Guard, an outside WR, and another TE the major needs for the draft. I think the Defense is mostly set.

Proud of the team and their fighting to the end and almost pulling the rabbit out of the hat. Credit to Denver, they won the battles physically and were deserving winners. Wonder if Bill and the gang are losing their edge a bit, those little things just weren't on our side this time like they usually are and they cost us.

I hate it when we decide to be something else in big games. BB's red hoodie, receiving the ball after winning the toss.

120 yards of offense in those 2 drives and we didnt get any pts. Difference in the game. In hindsight, denver D came to play. We over coached ourselves from the coin toss to FGs.
