My concern is this. The Chiefs win was not as decisive as it appeared most of the game. There were numerous chances where the Pats avoided a turnover basically through luck. The Broncos defense is better than the Chiefs defense, and the venue is far more unpleasant to play in than Foxboro. I think these might combine to allow the Broncos to force at least two or three turnovers on the Patriots (unless they just go for a running game and don't score anything). I could then see a low scoring game where the Broncos win due to their great field position from turnovers and their better running game, so I could see a score like 17-7 Broncos.
How was it not as decisive as it appeared? Led all game and they never had the ball with a chance to tie the game. That is very decisive.
The Bronco defense is not significantly better and may be worse than the Chiefs. The Chiefs allowed fewer points, and to your argument, had more takeaways.
At least 2 or 3 turnovers? OK you realize the Patriots under BB are BY FAR the least turnover team right?
You realize they have turned the ball over 3 times in their last 5 games combined right?
They have turned it over 3 times once on the last 2 years. They have turned it over twice 4 times this year and 8 times in 2 years, while having zero turnovers 15 times in 2 years.
Bizarre that you would be worried about the aspect of the game that this QB, HC and team are historically incredibly good at.

Anyone here going to the game? I haven't seen any posts in "road games". I'll be there. Lucky enough to be invited by my buddy who has Donks season tickets.

One thing I thought about watching the Steelers up there. All the kickoffs went through the endzone. Special teams were irrelevant on kickoffs.
Maybe the nfl should let a little air out of the kicking balls so special teams would have a shot at running one back. Thin air up there lets those kicks really sail.
After the New England game of course, since the Pats kick coverage is pretty sucky of it's own accord.

I know it won't happen.

but, I believe the Pats have the personnel to pull it off. could we deploy the amoeba defense against Peyton and would it be effective (considering he's seen everything). It'd be a way to make Peyton, probably want to back off the run, but might allow us to confuse him to cause an interception or two.

Gary Kubiak learned how to succeed vs. Patriots from Mike Shanahan

The Broncos would balance the formation and make it more difficult for Belichick to overload areas in the pass rush without revealing his intentions before the snap. Peyton Manning has often talked about Belichick's ability to design blitzes in the middle of the formation with players who are lined up off the line of scrimmage.

It was one of the things Manning had discussed with Brock Osweiler at halftime of the Broncos' Nov. 29 win over the Patriots, one of the seven games Osweiler started this season in place of the injured Manning.

That was also the game Kubiak showed he had carried over some things from his previous tenure with the Broncos, as Denver lined up with at least two tight ends in the formation for 50 snaps in that game, more than any other game the Broncos have played this season. The Broncos finished with 179 yards rushing, including the 48-yard touchdown run in overtime by C.J. Anderson that won the game.

It means Owen Daniels, Virgil Green and Vernon Davis figure to be busy as a group Sunday. Davis, in particular, could see an uptick in playing time given he has played just 13 snaps in the Broncos' last three games combined, including just one snap in Sunday's AFC divisional-round win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

I was thinking back to that 2014 (2013 season) AFC Title game and how hard it seemed to even get a 1st down that day. Was it the altitude? Was it the Denver D? Was is that Brady cannot play in Denver? We threw a deep ball to Slater for crying out loud! Well looky looky here, I forgot how undermanned we were for that game. WOW! And Denver, with all those guys catching balls from Manning could muster nothing against the Seahawks D:

Will be interesting to see how McD handles this as well..He has some past vs this team and would like to stick it to them but has to stay in the moment. The november game, for e.g they shouldve run the ball twice instead of throwing to gronk and stopping the clock.Osweiler wouldnt have had enough time for a comeback TD. Looked like he was trying to make a point. Game management will be very key as well.

Don't know about anyone else...this week seems to be flying by. Almost Sunday. I think I am even more amped because if they do win this..we are headed to SF Feb 5th...so more on the line it seems for me. Trying to keep my emotions in check!

It's 3pm here, so 1pm in DEN. With the game over by 4:30pm DEN time, I doubt there'll be any snow.

FWIW, WeatherUnderground's hour-by-hour breakdown has "chance of rain" from 1pm to 4pm and "snow showers" from 5pm on. Between 1pm and 5pm the temps is forecast to drop from 39F to 32F.

I doubt the Broncos plan is to spread the field and throw. Rain can help a run game IF you win your blocks.

Yup. I'm already getting jittery.

I really wish Easley didn't get hurt. He wouldn't have been a big piece last week against Alex Smith as we wanted to contain him in the pocket and he wouldn't be a big piece against Cam Newton for the same reason but he would be absolutely crushing against Peyton.

LoganRyan has been getting torched the past several weeks .....D Thomas will still be hindered due to manning not being able to throw a long ball anymore....but Thomas will most likely be more productive. Manning will be throwing short passes and slants all game....that's his wheelhouse now. If we can't stop the run it will make for a long game. Manning doesn't have much arm left at all but is still very smart ....going to be a close game unfortunately

Ryan pretty much shut down Demariyus Thomas in the previous game, save for one catch at the end.

Ryan matches up well with Thomas, just like Kyle Arrington used to match up well with TY Hilton. I wouldn't be scared sh*tless of him, especially with Manning having to throw the ball, in the cold...with possible rain.

Blounts time here is done I would imagine. He was VERY slow and lumbering most games and took forever to hit the hole ....so in answer to question....NO he would not have made any difference.....IF (and that is huge IF...,the OL can open some lanes....Jackson could have a very productive day.....we shall see

somebody said blount would make the difference vs Jackson in this game.
I doubt it would be a significant difference.
The only significant difference in the running game can be made by OL.
If they are serious to run, they should add some help to the OL.
Iosefa was an interesting try (but with more FB role and RB just as surprise factor).
Or somebody else some other way to make the run even possible.
Running into a brick wall doesnt make much sense except for intermezzo.

First stop the run. Then Patricia can clog the in-cut lanes with LBs and safeties. They will take away the easy throws and make him throw outside the numbers. Collins and HT just have to be healthy enough.

Another thing I like about Sunday is that the Pats are not facing a mobile QB which always seem to convert on third and long. Now they don't have to worry about containing the QB and just go after him.
