Overlooked fact about Gostkowski

If I'm not mistaken, the only two current Patriots to partipate in SBs 42 and 46 are Tom Brady and Stephen Gostowski. That must have felt good for Gost, even if it wasn't the Super Bowl.

That is correct. Brady and Ghost are the only ones left from SB 42.

Even more remarkably, only about 25% of this team was there for SB 46.

And with the winning FG became Patriots all time leader in Field Goals.

I don't know what's weirder, that stat or that vinitari has now played for the colts as long as he played for the pats.

For some teams FG's are an adventure, for us it is automatic.. 54 yards are you freaking kidding me???

Our whole kicking game is almost flawless, it is that third phase thing..

In an age of (supposed) parity, STs can often be the difference. I'm glad (1) BB knows this and (2) places importance on keeping the unit strong with key personnel.

That FG would have been good from about 65 yards in terms of distance! (Might have hooked wide but there was easily another 10 yards distance on it. Incredible!)

Yeah, the man has a very strong leg. Oh, how short ago it seems that people wanted to bring in "competition" for him in training camp. That was one hell of a FG.

After beating out Gramatica (who was more of an insurance policy than anything else), he has never faced serious competition for his job. Even keeping Shayne Graham to start 2011 was just insurance, not actual competition.

BB called Gostkowski the best player on our team during his pressed yesterday.
