Brady's the MVP so far, according to 30 out of 32 NFL beat writers

NFL Nation: Tom Brady the choice for midseason MVP

The only two dissenters were the Chiefs writer (picked Dalton) and Cardinals writer (picked Carson Palmer). Everyone else picked Brady, mostly effusively so.

I posted the link for proof's sake, but I gave you the salient points so you don't have to visit the Death Star.

Willing to bet one of those two dissenters is really Mort, and the other is Irsay still wearing his Halloween costume.

I am actually surprised cam newton isn't getting more love. I have to admit, I never saw him becoming the player he is. He deserves a lot of praise for having that rag tag offense holding together with the lack of options.

Throws picks (3 in one game) and has a really bad short-intermediate passing game.

Honestly, at this stage in the season I'm perfectly fine with Dalton/Palmer/Newton as MVP alternatives. The fact it's nearly unanimous halfway through the year is what's remarkable to me, and speaks to just how amazing Brady's been.

Brady's had an incredible first half of the season, the numbers alone tell the story but when you add in the O-line troubles and issues running the ball during many games it makes his numbers shine a little brighter. Palmer's having a record-breaking season, Dalton's been great, Newton doesn't have the numbers but with his legs and given their opponents and some late-game play from him he's a legit candidate.

Regardless, the last calendar year from Brady has been otherworldly.

He's doing some really good things this year. But his stats are just too ugly to win an MVP award. I don't even know if those stats win an MVP in 1975.

He has one positive offensive player on his team. His situation looks like Brady in 2013.

He would never win it, but holding that team in contention with some big time throws and drives deserve some serious credit.

Makes sense. Hope he can keep it up.

I don't care if he ends with 44 TDs 4 Ints for the year. Just going 16-0 and win the super bowl would make me happy. Not too much to ask. :p

Here is a question. Assuming Brady can't win who is your MVP?

Rodgers, Palmer, Dalton, Carr, Newton all have a case.

For non QBs Devonti Freeman, Rob Gronkowski, Julio Jones are in contention too IMO.

Though a lot of people are down on him I'd give it to Rodgers I think. Had 1 very bad game all year and really carried a team without a ton of help and one of the more impressive statistical years overall.

These are Mike Reiss' peers, although he may have more seniority than many. Indeed, one of them is Mike Rodak.

ESPN has many employees. Not all are stupid or corrupt.

On the corrupt side, check the news for Disney CEO Iger. He's heavily in bed w/ the NFL.

T.he Cardinals writer is just being a homer and the Chiefs writer is probably just a huge fan of the movie "RoadHouse" because it's set just outside Kansas City and the main character's name is.......

There are only two players who should even be in the discussion. It's Brady and Newton, and nobody else.

Upon hearing this news all brady had to say was "mvp's don't really matter to me, i'm just focused on winning the next game"

It's not that unusual for there to be a consensus midseason MVP. Happens every two or three years. For example, 2013 would have definitely been Manning, while 2011 would have definitely been Rodgers. What distinguishes this season from the usual consensus midseason MVP pick is that Brady is the consensus midseason MVP in spite of some incredibly strong competition in Dalton, Newton, Palmer, and Rodgers, all of whom are having great seasons but are completely overshadowed by one of the greatest 8 game stretches any QB has ever had in the history of the NFL. Rodgers is standing at 7-1 with 2000 yards, 19 TDs, and 3 interceptions halfway through the season, and he's not even in the conversation at this point. That's absurd.

Carson Palmer! Really? I was thinking the dissenters would be the colts writer cause they're butt hurt and the Carolina writer.

Are we doing the panthers meme record joke with the packers too?

They're 6-2
