Schefter on Lewis: No swelling yet (good) but ACL loose (bad)

I dont understand everyone's issue here. He is giving his opinion the same way pundits are giving theirs. He even emphasizes that this is solely based on video and has no scientific base.

I agree, and Chao actually has a good track record.

You're joking, right? Siliga? Chandler? White (after Lewis has a possibly serious injury)?

Just trying to think outside the box a bit, since BB isn't shy about surprising us.

With White, he is still a healthy scratch in his 2nd year. It's possible that there is a FA out there who BB would like more.

In Siliga's case, it is more an embarrassment of riches since we have so many people ahead of him playing well.

I'd still hate cutting Siliga as someone. Colts perhaps, would claim him in a heartbeat.

Too bad about Big Ben...I was really starting to enjoy the stand up comedy routine that consisted of supposedly serious NFL analysts arguing that he belongs in the same class as Brady.

It does sound like once again he has avoided a season-ending injury. Even though he has a crazy year with injures, it's even crazier that you could argue he was lucky one of these wasn't worse.

Actually, I think Lis Franc IS potentially season-ending and career threatening, depending on the severity.

Big Ben is no spring chicken.

I think that many severely overrated what Chandler is. Probably because he got so much of his yearly stats against the Pats. As a starter he's a 500 yards 3-4 TDs kind of guy. He's a pretty average TE. Now obviously he's behind arguably the mest dominant tight end ever, and that will limit his numbers a lot. But I still like what he gives us as a backup TE. There's not that many good TEs in the league, so having an average one for a backup is nice.

Absolutely. And with Gronk as the dominant receiving threat + other solid pass catchers it makes Williams the better guy to pair with him. It's team construction and match ups that are keeping Chandler off the field more than him being "disappointing."

As fast as this announcement was made by the Colts, I find it incredibly bizarre that the Patriots have released no updates on Lewis' injury (especially if it's season-ending as we all suspect)

Well...its the patriots. What is so surprising ?

I WANT TO KNOW LEWIS' INJURY STATUS AND I WANT IT NOW, DAH-DEE!!!

First of all, why would anyone be cut? The Patriots don't need roster space. If Lewis is severely injured he'll be placed on IR. Secondly, it's safe to assume White is preferred over any available free agent RB due to his continued roster spot. Third, it seems far more likely that someone like King of McDonald would be cut rather than a DL.

Knocked out Ty Law in 04.

Here's to hoping it is akin to Kiko Alonso's injury with the Eagles. When it happened week 2, pundits et al were 'sure' it was an ACL. Turned out not to be and he was out there on the field last night vs Dallas(week 9)...
If hopefully it is a 7 week thing, it means he could be back week 16 or 17....
We just have to wait.......and hope...

We all don't suspect that.

It isn't just Lewis, we may need another OL activated.

We've entered the last three games with only six OL and have finished each game less healthy than before. There are currently questions about the health of Vollmer, Jackson, Andrews, and maybe Mason.

That is scary and risky to stay with the status quo.

Oh, no question, but it sounded like from the article that it could have been worse and there was even talk of him only missing a game. If and when he were to return to play, his mobility would likely take a hit though.

forgot Cannon :(

You might want to get back in the box. :)

In all seriousness, if Bill thought White could be upgraded by a street FA, he wouldn't still be here. And Chandler is the only Gronk substitute. I agree with the thought process on Siliga, but only if they are replacing him with Jones. He would never be cut to make room for a RB.

chandler's blocking hasn't been that good...there's a reason michael williams plays more snaps.
bill is still searching for the perfect #2 to gronk. heck, tim wright was more productive than chandler.

chandler put up decent numbers with garbage qb's like fitzpatrick. strange that it doesnt translate with the GOAT
Yeah, not killing the guy or anything, but he's had several drops and has generally underwhelmed. But as others have said, serviceable back up so whatever.
