Post-Game Shooting in Cowboys Stadium Parking Lot

I went to the game in full Pats gear and no one said a negative word. Today I was telling my friend how that would never happen at Foxboro; there's always good banter going on here. Maybe it's because I was in the club seats, I don't know... anyway the crowd in Dallas seemed very friendly overall. It just takes one psycho to ruin things. I hope the victim recovers fully and quickly and the shooter gets prison justice.

With all due respect, there is no comparison between the hatred and scorn Pats fans take outside of NE and the crap other teams' fans are subject to outside of their home areas. Anyone who wears any Patriots gear when traveling alone outside of NE is naive, nuts or both. It's bad, trust me.

I agree. I was citing two violent fanbase v fanbase incidents where people were left in critical or serious condition.

I have been a "victim" of anti-Pats hatred and I was fortunate that nothing serious came of it. I've also been treated well.

I would agree that Pats fans draw the ire of other fans more than other teams but it not clear to me if there is appreciably more physical violence vs Pats fans than other fans. I respect yours and Joker's perspective.

Hey blue, thanks for your contributions here this week. It certainly helps strike some balance of sanity in the midst of the rest of this.

Is any official information getting released yet, or are we all dealing with rumors of second hand content?

You're welcome, I've enjoyed my time here. Who knows, I may stay forever ;)

But as far as I can tell, it's just rumors at this point. In this article from this Dallas Morning News, the suspect is wearing a Dallas shirt http://crimeblog.dallasnews.com/201...ooting-sunday-at-att-stadium-police-say.html/

He shot the 27 year old man point blank in the neck, but was only charged with aggravated assault. Complete bs, that is 100% attempted murder.

I have been to games at Cowboys stadium vs all the NFCE rivals, and we have the least intimidating fans in the NFL. There is very little to no trash talking whatsoever. The only time I had a problem was an Eagles fan making a comment about my Romo jersey (I guess the idiot forgot he was in our stadium), and I just ignored him.

This is very terrible anomaly brought about by a psychotic person, plain and simple. This is not the kind of person that should represent our fan base.

He could still get 20 years for that.

In all fairness, my perspective is likely colored by my own personal experiences. I spend lots of time in SW Florida during football season and that area is loaded with mid-westerners, Indiana natives in particular, and I just don't wear any Pats' gear anymore because the reaction I get isn't just unpleasant, it's legitimately threatening. At my age, if I'm going to be rolling around on the ground with someone, it's gonna be sexual rather than combative.

Nothing surprises me anymore sadly...

This seems like a real life Black Mirror episode. Its hard to wrap your head around what could possibly be going on in these people's minds, chanting for the execution of a fellow human being and football fan. Its like a medieval lynch mob or something. What third world country are we in again?

Spot on comparison.

When I first watched that show this past Spring, I sensed for the first time that the seemingly bizarre and frightening memes explored in the episodes were a lot closer to reality than meets the eye...

The awful news from Dallas in regards to how the shooting unfolded definitely underscore my impressions of "Black Mirror".

Yea I'm too old to be mixing it up over Pats hate too. Senseless....

The attitude has changed so much. I just don't get it. I used to do a ton of road trips to Montreal when the B's would play up there in the late 80s and early 90s and with the Habs fans it was jibber-jabber back and forth but always ended with beers and whisky shots on St Catherines street. No violence. Never. No tolerance or any patience these days.

I'm a geezer too and am just south of Tamper in the winter and wearing my Pats stuff the worst I get are some wise-ass remarks. But I'm very good at wise ass remark repartee.

Example:
Moron: "Cheaters!"
Me (2nd moron): "There you go again, mispronouncing CHAMPIONS!"

From what I understand, this psycho didn't even attend the game. He stayed out in the parking lot "tailgating" (drinking) and, because it's legal to carry in Texas, he probably had the weapon somewhere in his car.

Thank you for joining.

My frustration this year has been some online Cowboys fans (NOT YOU) that behave just like that mob.

I'd hope the Jones takes the strongest possible action to deter fans from acting like the Eagles or Raiders fans

I agree. If this story turns out to be a Patriots fan getting shot by a Cowboys fan and people encouraged him to do it, there could be some significant fallout from this. From what I've seen/read so far, the rooting interests of either the victim or the shooter haven't been identified yet. It could be that these were both Dallas fans that got into an argument, which wouldn't make it less unfortunate and messed up.

If the victim does turn out to be a Patriots fan, I don't think we'll see a story that that played into the crowd encouraging the assailant. That would require the media to admit that the league and their media cronies played a role in this by fanning the flames with a false cheating story for the last 9 months. There's no way the media will implicate themselves in that. More likely, this angle, if it exists, will either be buried or the storyline will turn toward blaming the victim.
It seems very likely that the rooting interests might remain unidentified by the authorities precisely because the victim was a Pats fan. That would reflect very poorly on Jerry's stadium, might even get him a scowl from some other owners at their next league meeting.

The shooter was a Cowboys fan. You can tell by his mug shot that was posted.. The Victim is whom they haven't said word one about, though it's a good chance he was a Cowboys fan also. The Victim was supposedly trying to break up the fight..

It is odd they have said nothing about the victim, just his age. If he was a Patriots fan, I lay this straight at Goodell's feet. I honestly fear for the safety of Belichick, Brady and the team as they have been made out as the Antichrist by the NFL and ESPN.

The shooter should get tortured and made an example.

The diminished media reports, now on page C3, there is no indication that the victim was a pats fan, thank god..

Seems as though the story is now the victim was third man in this fight and was trying to quell the disturbance, guess that his not wise in Texas or when everyone is drunk.

Being an old geezer I never wear Pats gear when I travel... just do not want the aggravation... but recently while in Seattle commented to several people who were wearing their #12 jerseys, how nice it was that they were honoring Tom Brady.. but one guy got really mad so I knocked that off.

I get your overall point but really shouldn't make a difference.
looks like someone coming in to stop a fight was caught up in this. Pats fan or no. hopefully he has a speedy recovery.
