Dallas Morning News: Cowboys will be going up against the NFL's greatest dynasty of all time

I especially like the fact that there is basically no mention of the word "-gate" anywhere in that article. :)

At least one writer there has figured out it's wise not to poke the bear.

Comboys fans arent buying this article one bit - they dismiss the Patriots as Cheaters and in their eyes, all of their success is tainted

This is an evolutionary coping mechamism(though in Texas its been paused for 6 million years) that developed to make sense of a world that is too complicated for average ESPN viewers and Texans to understand.

Most comments dismiss the dynasty as the result of cheating. The media with help from the league has brainwashed everybody and tainted our legacy.

I agree. It's pretty pathetic how people attribute the success of the Patriots to cheating. I came across this awesome post in response to those comments:

Dan Rowland -

The belief that the Patriots cheat is strong and widespread. However, that does not mean that the belief, "the Patriots cheat" derives logically from evidence. Consider how we currently condemn the practice of "witch-hunts." Belief in witches was widespread. However, the belief in witches didn't have any logical connection to evidence. The absence of logic and evidence did not deter the masses who just "knew" witches existed.

In the present "deflategate" "scandal", NYU criminal law professor Robert Blecker and John. M Dowd, (who served as special counsel to three MLB commissioners in their investigation of Pete Rose,) both concluded that Tom Brady and the Patriots were innocent of wrongdoing while the NFL was guilty of deceit and malfeasance. Neither are Patriots fans.

----(the only evidence against Brady being fragmentary texts from 4 months before the game as opposed to all the physical and quantitative evidence which indicates that the footballs weren't improperly deflated) -- see Science News or American Enterprise Institute.

It is particularly odd for any Cowboy fan to cite "Spygate", (the only other "evidence" of Patriots cheating,) as former Dallas Cowboys head coach Jimmy Johnson himself stated that, "When I came into the NFL, back in '89, I talked to a Kansas City scout and he said, 'Here's what we do, we videotape the opposing team's signals and then we sync it up with the game film.' So I did it."

The majority of Patriots cheat accusations mirror what is sometimes called "the big lie" or "truthiness." (While Stephen Colbert introduced the term, it did win 'word of the year' for whatever that is worth.)

------"Truthiness" is a quality characterizing a "truth" that a person making an argument or assertion claims to know intuitively "from the gut" or because it "feels right" without regard to evidence, logic, intellectual examination, or facts.

Sometimes a false belief system based on "truthiness" is easier to maintain than just admitting that the opposition is better prepared and works harder.

Oh, there are comments. I didn't see them at first.

The year 2020 could be when the Patriots break one of the hardest records in the NFL...longest streak of winning seasons at 21....they are now working on #16
