OT: Drew Brees could miss out on several games due to a shoulder injury

This Saints should become a cautionary tale for everyone who thinks of frequently creating cap space by restructuring. They will have issues over the next few years.

Its his Shoulder again. We think a torn rotator cuff. It would explain why SP went to a run heavy offense last season, and 1st two games this season. We couldnt understand the play calling.

Its possible that was the same injury last year, but he played threw whatever it was, and was in rehab working all off season to learn to throw again. :( Dont think they would ever say its the shoulder again.

It was amazing he came back from the 1st surgery after SD, but its the same shoulder, and if he played that long on it. It was so stupid.. WHY CANT HE JUST SIT DOWN AND NOT PLAY THREW EVERY INJURY !!!!
Ive never seen Brees look so afraid or lost until the interview after the game.

Really worried doctors told him there is nothing else that can be done. I dont know, hope its not that bad.
But if brees misses a game, it must be bad. I think that guy would play with a broken leg.
Going to take a miracle now.

BountyGate forced our cap to fill spots. Goodell killed our draft for 2 years.

Sorry to hear this, Pherein. I kinda wish you guys could have a Brady-esque backup come in...

Thanks bulie, as a fan I think he's done enouph and what he promised us to be winners just once.
Im almost hoping he stops playing and retires with us. I dont want Brees to be in pain for the rest of his life trying to win more for us. Hes a nice guy.
Maybe we can make a deal to get Colt McCoy, hes a Brees clone or Drew Stanton.

The guy you need is Brady's backup, not those guys.
Id kill to get JG man, but BB is never going to give us a shot, unless SP get him drunk again lol, and we dont have the drafts to pay with because of bountygate. Redskins might deal, they are silly or Cards.

What's Garret Grayson looked like?

I really like Grayson. Sometimes he looks like a pro, very calm, great pocket presence. Then because hes new to the speed he cant do much, but never indecisive. He could be great QB in 1-3 years if someone invested the time. He has the ability to be forced into the #1 spot, and do really well. We might have to do that.

I was gonna say I do remember he was there, he could be your future for all you know yet. Sometimes you get Jimmy G sometimes you end up with Mallett ;)

lol, yeah its true. I think Grayson has the ability to be a Alex smith type QB with better pocket awareness, might win us some games. Alot to ask for a rook though.

That sucks, football is more fun with Brees
yeah really is, just bumbed about it. Think we all know what this means..
I said in our forum.. No matter what it is, its bad, Brees always plays hurt, never misses a game. He gave us everything he had. He loved and supported us on and off the field, its time for us as fans to do the same for him. We so love you Drew... you need to stop.. you cant take anymore hits on that shoulder. It might be a good thing for us to tell him to walk away. Im so worried that the doctors said there is nothing more they can do, or surgery will be a season and rehab, and he wont do that. He will kill himself to play for us.
I dont know what to do, but I was pissed at him for missing passes last season, losing games, we all were, and now we are ashamed of ourselves, and more ashamed now. We had no idea it was this bad and he was in so much pain, but there is no excuse for our actions.

Honestly, I was not aware that the whole debacle was triggered by the league. What a joke.

I thought that your front office wanted to sell out during Bree's last few competitive seasons -- again and again - and injuries + bad signings killed the cap.

I really feel for ya. I respect the hell out of the whole NO org. I hope you guys can some how turn it around. And the whole Goodell thing just pisses us all off. The owners wanted exactly what has happened to your team. They want to knock any perennial winner down a notch to even out their plan of parity. It is more apparent than ever. And they are trying their best to do it to us. I was looking forward to a good season for the Saints and , contrary to most, I was hoping Dallas would be a contender this season. It would be nice to see the Pats get to another SB against NO or the Cowboys. Anyway good luck to you and your team. .... And F' Roger GoToHell

Good luck, pherein. I hope it's not a major issue for Brees. He is my favorite non-Pats QB in the NFL. A genuine class act.

As for Saints salary cap issues, this article has a pretty decent summary of how things went south.

Hope we do to. Pipe dream but nothing would be better than being in a SB with the great fans of NE.
Imagine.. so civil , fun, good food, and company with mutual respect OMG lol. I always said if we get that chance we are going to wear Saints jersey with with NE names. Im sporting a Saints jersey with #12 and Brady on the back to show respect for your team and fans, and got over 100 other names to do so when we thought we had another shot in 2010-2011. Be pretty cool to show the media and Goodell we stick together. We truely appreciate how kind you are to us as fans.
On a really bad note, I think Brees is going to play this week. He was in practice on Wednesday. Has not met with Andrews, but sent him the MRI, talked with him on the phone about his restructured shoulder, and is saying its only a bruised rotator shoulder. Judging from how he could not even get the ball 40 yards, and the picts off ice packs, and same arm strength last year, I think this is a lie.
Think hes one hit from something horrible happening, and now DC's know what to go for. Its part of the game.
Not sure why Payton doesnt bench him.
